He kind of reminds me of a young Kane - in the sense that physically he does not look like he can do the things he does, and yet he does them well.

I am hoping he cements his role in M for many years to come.
I hope he hasn’t got a brother. Last thing we need is Charlie Skipp stirring things up. ?

I see a player that as he gains experience, and encouraged to be brave with the ball and his movement in the last third, I really could see him develop into a very Frank Lampard type player. I think he’s got that kind of way about his play now, and how he moves about the pitch, just popping up in goal scoring positions is something that could come as he learns and studies his and the game.

A very Frank Lampard type player but without anything like the amount of goals!

If he scores a quarter of the goals Lampard did he’ll have done very well

A Frank Lampard type player with pretty much no goals is a championship player

As an observation in case anyone is interested in Skipp, the player I saw at Colchester last Wednesday is a different animal to the player I saw the year before last. No longer a boy trying to get involved in the game he's now a man influencing the game with a degree of high powered nonchalance. Last season really seems to have been the making of him.

Makes me wonder even more why Poch took the (reported) stance of not allowing youth players go out on loan. Surely is by far the most effective way for a youth player to make the step up. Competitive football always wins over youth leagues.

I think the trick is finding the right loan.

If you send a young player on loan to a club that has no intention of playing them (see: Clarke @ Leeds/QPR) you end up with a young player away from home losing confidence and regressing - in those cases it would probably be better to keep them at the club.

But then if you find the right club (see: Skipp @ Norwich) they get a whole season of first team football and improve massively.

Indeed, Norwich was absolutely perfect for Skipp. he progressed so quickly in that team to being a vital player in the middle of the pitch, i was watching the game when he got injured, i think it was the last Norwich home game and i was gutted. I thought it was going to be a really long injury but luckily not. I think he will be a brilliant player for us this year. I know the prem is a step up but he can do multiple roles and can really dictate a game well.

Didn't JM say that Skipp would captain England ?...or was it captain of Spurs ?...anyway he really rated Skipp
Spurs captain, which is perfectly possible at some point. He has got almost everything you want from a midfielder in terms of footballing quality, character and mentality.
