Our 5 CMs should be these

Bentancur
Bissouma
Sarr
Madison
Kulusevski

We should sell Hojberg Skipp GLC (maybe 50mil total?) and buy 1 more CM in the Sarr box to box role that gets goals
Out of that list only Bissouma, Sarr and Bentancur are actually CM's. Kulusevski and Maddison are attacking midfielders.

How many PL winners medals does John O’Shea have?

People are way too harsh on Skipp. He is solid, works hard and keep his head down.
I think he has a role to play for us tbh.
John O'Shea has five, the same number as Darren Fletcher.

If they play/can play in one of the 3 central midfield positions I class them as a CM. Maybe I'm just a traditionalist

Think his only value is he gives 100% and he’s homegrown seems like a different player the one holland’s youngsters praised and couldn’t get near or the player he was driving through championship teams.

Have a friend who played against him who even though he was the future of England’s midfield, but honestly I just don’t think he’s great or good at anything a jack of all trades but a master of none.

only a few months younger than Declan rice etc

I never rated him but he was at least functional till what looks like a confidence drop recently. Was nowhere against Kompany’s quick, technical youngsters

Wish someone would come in with 15m and the same for PEH so we can bid on Connor approaching deadline day

He's closer to a year younger than Rice - and lost a year or so to injury.

He's a few inches shorter though, which doesn't help these days when most are over 6ft.

Skipp's style would've suited a bigger more rangy body too. Guess the growth spurt never happened.

Anyway, it's a pretty exaggerated point, but he's definitely suffering at the moment.

From what I remember of his youth days and his general application and effort, it still makes me think he'll become a solid PL player for someone - if not the "captain of Tottenham" material I once saw.

Still very unconvinced by him in a non-6 role. The problem is you can see why Ange might think he can play it, and did make some good runs and one or two neat passes towards the final third but he just doesn’t have the technical skillset needed.

when we are still not quite fluid and slick in a lot of our attacking play the number 8 needs to be offensively effective. (More Gio than Skipp)

We could see this coming from a mile away. The reality is he’s nowhere near the level to play in this system. Has been a waste of space on the pitch.

We should be loaning him out this window because he’s a lost cause in this system

Still not sure Gallagher is that great. He’s a step up from Skipp granted, but not worth £50m

I think he’s a big step up from Skipp.

But even more importantly, you can see how Gallagher would work in Ange’s system whereas Skipp not so much.

The career arcs of Winks and Skipp have so many similarities. Manager's pet types, good and showing promise of potential greatness before injury, never fully recovered after a long spell out, confidence shattered, needs a move away to restart.

If Skipp gets that move I think he'll become a PL regular before too long. But it won't be with us.

I think everyone is being very harsh on Skipp, the comparisons with Rice are also unfair, Rice has played 200+ games in the premier league, Skipp has only 60 odd appearances and a large number of them would be as sub I would guess.
Yes, he’s not been great in Ange’s set up but remember most of his play time has come under Jose and Conte. So he’s been asked to play in a vastly different way. I think he’s a little unsure on the role, he looked a little lost at times yesterday, but Ange gives and expects a bit more freedom in movement opposed to Conte’s ridged patterns of play, so in an attacking sense he needs to find himself. I also think he’s lost a bit of confidence over the last few years, if he can get that back and with a better understanding of the system I think he’s still a very useful player.

He shouldn’t be playing ahead of PEH, it’s no comparison in ability.

He’s just a poor player, I wonder if something happened to him because we was highly rated initially wasn’t he?

Winks was good on the ball, but disrespectful to him for folks to say Skipp is the same, a gulf there too IMO

Winks was better on the ball but poor in defence after the injury.

I've yet to see Skipp sulk on the pitch and throw a game like Winks did in Europe so he's got that going for him at least.

The lad looked to be tailor made for that #6 role, especially after the match against City under Nuno. Now his timing seems well off, he's getting to players too late and being side stepped with ease. He's not made for this system and it's sad to see.

I don’t necessarily think he’s poor just a player like Dier doesn’t fit into this way of playing. Drop him into a bunch of other Prem teams and he’ll look a different player. This system just seems to pass him by, and looks a yard too slow both going forward or defending in both physical and speed of thought. Handy to have around the squad but think we can find better and he can find a club that will get the best out of him. Think its as simple as that really.

He’s not a poor player at all - I’ve seen that with my own eyes and he’s a very good player. Yesterday was a very poor game for him, he struggled badly. He’s a player that wins the ball or destroys opponents attacking play but he’s capable of driving up the field with the ball and playing great passes. If anyone denies it they haven’t actually watched him play before. Or they are lying because he isn’t a Bentancur or a Lo Celso. I’m not sure he’s got a place in this squad long-term but he’s a very good young player.

Loan to buy for something like £15-20m would be perfect. In the right system he's PL level but the drop off in him has been really bizarre as he was decent under Nuno and Conte.
