As per the Athletic, Conte now does not want to lose the £22 million man this month, and the same goes for Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr.

So conflicting stories , who do you believe. After his cameo against Palace hoping Sarr stays.
Who's the first bit about? Gil?

Who are Salernitana? Never heard of them. Sound like the Italian equivalent of Wycombe Wanderers.

Keep Sarr here. He's shown he up to the job and just needs his chance.

I'm not sure Conte would do shop window playing time for youth players I'd guess we were lining him up for a loan (hence discussions) but injuries forced Conte to play him in some PL games. After seeing him being able to acquit himself well, we now want to keep him here.

Total speculation, obviously.

plus he played at the world cup and there's no bigger shop window than that.

Don’t see the point in loaning him out anymore. He’s clearly got the mind and talent to play at this level, it will just be about developing physically and getting to know what Conte wants from him. Conte clearly likes him, keeping a little protege around for him to work on that’s got a big future could help him remember that there’s a lot of fulfilment to be had from coaching young players that go from strength to strength. We can get him the finished article from time to time but he needs to take the same satisfaction from working with rough diamonds and that’s what I think Sarr is. If you’re a scout with a list of attributes for a young CM Sarr has almost every one ticked. Height ✅ Athleticism ✅ Movement off the ball ✅ Touch and spatial awareness in relation to opponents ✅ See’s an early pass to release an attack ✅ Weight of pass ✅ Shooting ability ✅

The kids a big talent and there’s so much there to work with

via Ali Gold:

You've worked closely with Pape Matar Sarr, what have you been working with him on and just how good he can be?

He's a very young player. It's the first time he came to England. He has one year experience in Ligue 1 in France. About his skill, he can do everything because he's a great player with many possibilities. He's a midfielder who can play in many positions. He's a talented player.

I spoke at my last press conference about the way you have to wait with young players. If you use young players at the wrong time, you can make a mistake. But with Pape, Antonio decided at this moment that Pape is ready and he improved a lot in training.

We worked a lot on body position and many skills he has to improve. He showed a desire to improve and this is very important for us. If you work with a player and they show this desire it's easier. With Pape it is easy. He has to continue to work because we have a hierarchy, so he has to respect this and we have to respect the players. He has the possibility now and he has to show his desire and his quality.
Hey @Hercules - why the dislike mate? Just passing on Stellini’s comments.

It's got to come down to minutes I think.

If Bentancur's injury isn't too bad and he's back soon, then is Sarr really going to get much game time when we also have Bissouma and Skipp?

We all know how little Conte rotates his CMs when the first choice 2 are fit, and even though he likes Sarr, he'd probably still pick the more experienced guys ahead of him as subs/rotation options.

Think a loan makes sense unless Bentancur is out for months, personally. Then reassess in the summer and integrate him into the team once he's got another 20-30 games under his belt.

Our squad is so bare in multiple positions. There are a lot of games still to play. Unless we are overstocked in positions we are trying to bring in new players (RWB), Conte will not want to lose anyone on loan who has featured this season.

Sarr staying and not going out on loan could depend on tomorrow's result , lose and he could go out on loan , win and there's another round to play. Going out of the League Cup was a pain because he and Skippy could have got more minutes.

Yeah but it's always a juggling act.

Do we really need 5 midfielders for 4 positions when we have a coach adverse to rotation? Skipp has barely seen any minutes as the 4th choice so far this season in an incredibly busy pre-world cup schedule. What hope does Sarr have as the 5th choice?

Do we really need to keep Sarr around if he's only likely to play a combined total of like 200 minutes unless we have a monster injury crisis? Let's remember the only reason he got 30 mins against Palace was:

a) we were cruising and 3 or 4 nil up
b) Bentancur was injured
c) Bissouma was suspended.

Better he gets 2000 mins on loan IMO.

Conte's bound to disagree as he always wants all bases covered but the man practically never rotates so I'm not sure he always has the players' best interests at heart. He just wants to make sure his arse is covered.

Completely agree. Not watched that video but whilst watching the game last night I watched him pass to one of our CBs and he then absolutely fucking sprinted just be able to make an angle to receive it back.

I liked that. Shows very good work ethic.

This really stood out for me while watching it, absolutely no hiding at all. As basic as it sounds but its really not often I see our midfielders sprinting to make an angle. Was refreshing.

This is what the team’s been missing all season IMO and what you get with an injection pf youth. We also got it from Deki last year too.

Yes! Extremely nice to see, like we teach the kids to pass and search for a new open space immediately. As much as I love our Danish viking, a bit too often he does his best Sissoko impression and passes it back to a cb and then points...

Hoping he'll start today after his performance midweek.

We've got a Sarrrr man,
He's magic on the ball!
He plays for Tottenham Hotspur,
And he comes from Senegal!

True, but also sad. Would love to see our youngsters getting more opportunities but that's not how Conte operates. The only chances they get are born out of adversity.
