I thought he was really good when he came on. He’s a big lad in the middle of the park too. Play him more.

A lot of us have been saying this for weeks, he’s a very good midfielder for his age and will develop well if he gets the game time he needs.

Not yet but there’s every chance that he will be. Get some confidence and experience into him and I think he’ll improve very nicely. He has, in my opinion, a very high ceiling.

I was about to say the same, he’s a bit young but he has a very good chance of surpassing PEH in a couple years.

I thought he struggled to get into the game a bit yesterday.
Was chasing shadows for the first ten minutes he was on the pitch. But when we got the ball and started pushing for a goal he was a bit better.

He’s talented for sure but he’s still young. Think he could develop into a very very good player.

If we have a young player I’d put money on being top class it’s this guy. He has every attribute you could want in a CM minus PL level physicality and experience

We’ll have him on the Leicester testosterone program in the summer and he’ll bulk up quickly

The only way he'll get the experience he needs is with regular minutes off the bench for now. We seem to be stuck with 2 in CM but at least Mason has given him a chance which Conte never did.

To me, I'd like him to be behind Bentancur next season. I would like Bentancur/Sarr to be the B2B role, Bissouma/Skipp in the DM role and then Kulusevski/Madisson, or Scott in the AM role. To me that is one "now" player (aged 25-30) and one "future" player in each role

Some really good Sarr quotes from Ange today:

Is Pape Matar Sarr in your plans for the season?

Absolutely. What a player. He never stops smiling, what else do you want from a footballer? He’s outstanding and he’s always happy. I’ve seen plenty of outstanding players who are fairly miserable.

He’s a great talent. That part really excited me at the moment that we have a clutch with Destiny, Pappy, Skippy.

We’ve got a talented and very exciting group there. There’s some real growth there for us apart from establishing a team that can make an impact straight away.

What do you like about his game?

He’s very good technically. His mobility as a midfielder, which I think is becoming more and more important in the game, is outstanding. His ability to find space, to break lines with and without the ball is very, very good for a young player and a 20-year-old. Those kinds of things in a midfielder in the modern game are very sought after. These days most managers now realise a lot of times the game becomes a transitional game and you need people who can cover territory and do intelligently and he does that. He’s always in the right spaces, he’s always looking to be aggressive in his approach. Technically he’s very, very good.

Yaya matar Sarr, my pick for young player of the upcoming season.

I really rate Sarr as a talent and it’s really pleasing to hear Ange rates him for the same reasons. His potential is massive and he could turn into a phenomenal all-rounder once he’s developed more physically. Very optimistic when it comes to this lad. Thanks for posting these quotes!

Just to add (this is from I think -2/3 years ago) but always been impressed to see us end up/linked with a good amount of players on this list:

Progression - Dejan Kulusevski & Bryan Gil
Ball Winning + Retention - Pape Matar Sarr
Ball Winning + Rentention + Progression - Rodrigo Bentancur

In addition this Summer
Ball Winning - Linked with Youssouf Fofana (Monaco)
Retention - Linked with Douglas Luiz (Villa)

Shows that some don't always work out, but also shows we're targeting/getting some very impressive young players. Easy to forget that players like Sarr are still only 20 years old!

With Gallagher’s price reportedly >40m from that rejected West Ham bid, we need to let that ship sail and put that money in other positions.

Give this young man a go and let’s see him flourish. There is something about him that we’ve seen as fans and Ange has gushed about here that we have to unleash.
