A loser? Really? Pretty sure when he retires he'll be able to look at that world Cup winners medal and think a bit different from yourself.
cant take that away from him, but he'll also be known as the captain of the biggest nearly club in world football for the vast majority of his career, which imo says a lot more about a career then one summer tournament.

All keepers make mistakes... a howler, mis-kick, drop an easy catch leading to a goal etc but despite these mistakes they don’t go into them with the mindset of making said mistake.

What Gazzaniga did wasn’t as a result of a poor action, he tried to kick the ball when it was 5 foot off the ground and instead nearly decapitated Alonso. In addition to that he also did it in his own penalty area... the risk of giving away a pen, getting a red card and seriously injuring Alonso were sky high. It was an atrocious piece of decision making and he made no attempt to pull out of it. Crazy and completely unacceptable goalkeeping.

Massively knee jerk. The leniency we’ve given Hugo with mistakes like this, I think Gaz is entitled to one. Look at De Gea today, it happens to the best. Unfortunate timing.

As said previously my comment has nothing to do with Lloris.. completely seperate conversation. It wasn't just one mistake he made another horrendous error in second half and was lucky Abraham was offside.

Everybody just conveniently choosing to forget that he was monumentally saved for another howler by the offside flag?

It truly baffles me that people think this guy is better than Lloris. I’ve honestly not seen a goalkeeper worse at saving low shots than him. It takes him an absolute age to get down to the ground. If he does manage to save them, he usually spills them back into the box like he did today.

yup he won the world cup all own his own not just because he played on the most talented team in the competition by a wide margin. What was his big moment at the tournament his disastrous cruyff turn? Or how about when he cost France in the 2016 Euros finals. Give me a break the guy's career is littered with baffeling moments, most of them cost us massively.

He isnt better than Lloris. However he is better than most/all PL back up keepers so he isnt the problem

Gazza was lucky that the ball that bounced off him was ruled offside. It's the same mistake he made against Leicester where he failed to hold a ball. He is a number 2 keeper but not a world class keeper that you need if you are going to win anything. Not sure Lloris is that keeper either and I suspect we will be looking at a new long term number 1 this summer

Well today finally brought home the realisation why a goalkeeper can be such handsome bastard ...as he didn't want to get hurt.

The weirdest thing about the penalty decision was how on earth VAR took so long to make it?

That was genuinely one of the worst bits of keeping I can remember. He could've walked out and picked it up but instead chose to karate kick Alonso. The only conclusion I can make is that he was scared of getting hurt.

Just watched back the penalty* after being at the game, even worse watching it back, why the FUCK did he not just use his hands & claim the ball, what on earth was going through his mind, brain dead

If anybody honestly thinks that’s the sort of thing Lloris “does all the time” - you’re off your fucking head. Making a mistake trying to play football is expected, it happens. Going out of your way to hurricanrana an on-rushing attacker is just about as stupid as it gets. On reflection, it’s worse than when Walker was hoodwinked by the bobble.

what about that ridiculous red card Lloris got against PSV last season?in the last 2 seasons off the top of my head, the misplaced header against City and Sane scored, the awful come out against Barcelona last year, the southampton goal, Brighton mistake, wc final mistake, Sweden mistake, he does seem to do stupid things all the time,

That was an attempted (stupid) tackle, but Gazzaniga could have easily claimed it simply by taking a step to the right and catching it - but he didn’t want to risk the collision so stupidly went feet first at fucking head height - they’re not comparable.

Lloris makes mistakes too, and it is time to look at a potential replacement - but there have been suggestions Gazzaniga should be instated as first choice, which is (and excuse my French) les bananes.
