We sat and saw how Arsenal haggled over a few weeks to get Murdyk and Chelsea came out of nowhere to nab him. Knowing that that is always a possibility, we've dithered over this transfer for weeks and the same thing could happen.

Just saying, if Chelsea actually want Porro, it wouldn’t matter when we got close to a deal. Bit like Diaz last year, you do it quicker, they hijack quicker, if they’re that interested.

That's very true but then if that happens the player is off the table quicker and we sooner move on to new targets.

I don't know but has it occurred to anyone that we can just pay the release clause and take him so why not try to negotiate a better deal until that falls through and if it does fall through just trigger the release anyway.

We can't because that would involve outside finance which it has been alluded impacts our overall financing, namely the stadium.

Because some people here believe a
A "couple of million" equates to about £3.50. Let's hope they never negotiate a business deal anywhere. ?

If this thing about only being able to register 3 new players for the next round of the CL is true, that may give us a serious advantage over Chelsea.

They have already signed Mudryk, Madueke, Felix, Badiashile and Fofana.

So they can only register 3 of those as it is, let alone if they sign a new RWB and CM.

There is a good chance they wouldn’t be able to register Porro for the CL surely.

Chelsea are building for next season, and are strengthening to push for a top four finish, which is more realistic than winning the CL.
So I don't personally think that would necessarily put them off.

Next season they will be very strong.

Its already become a weird excuse now. We cant sign more than 3 players because we cant register them for the CL.....well what about all the other competitions we are in? We arent winning the CL this year so how about we also sign a CB (which we desperately need) and try to make sure we secure CL for next season.

I am not so sure that means we can't just that we'd prefer not to but even if you're right that means we we couldn't do it at the start either.
The point is people seem agitated that we didn't do it at the start when waiting until later allows you time to negotiate.

If we don't get this guy I will lose my shit! He's exactly what we need and a huge upgrade. I still think it will get done but the uncertainty is a killer.

Chelsea are planning for the long term. They don’t care if they can’t register someone for 2 UCL games this spring. They won’t let something like that get in way of their longer term goals .
