Fair play to him for seeking the help. Can only Be a good thing that he’s admitted he’s struggling with some mental health challenges. The only way he gets the good run he’s wishing for is to clear his head, get into a positive state and give Ange no reason to drop him

Didn't want to say anything but his reactions the past few weeks reminded me of when I was going through things. I'm glad he's come out and said there was things going on and working with a good therapist will help him in every aspect.

He's a good guy and we all as a fan base need to really get behind him. He's the kind of person who will repay that.

I believe in him to come good

It’s amazing that elite sportsmen and women feel they can talk on this stuff now whilst they’re still actively playing.

As someone who is friends with someone in the public eye I can speak from experience on the pressure, isolation and often loneliness they feel.

Historically famous people felt they couldn’t speak on these things as they’d be told their bank balance doesn’t allow them the luxury of feeling things like other human beings.

We’ve seen what happened with Dele, now let’s get behind Richy and show him some love.

You complain about people using Richarlison's numbers to judge him but then use them yourself to compare him 'favourably' against someone else. It's either relevant or it's not.

Many of us have been watching Richy play for us and can see a lot of things that frustrate us, namely poor control, interplay, finishing and no instinctive knack of knowing when to make a run or where to be to capitalise on loose balls in the box. He obviously has a lot of qualities, but his confidence issues are prohibiting him from displaying some of them. When you pay the amount we did, especially for someone from the same league, you'd hope he'd be a lot more rounded/complete as a player.
I didn't complain about people using his numbers to judge him. I actually said that he's providing more than his numbers are indicating. That's two very different things. You have me confused with somebody else

As for your other points. I see all of those things too but I also see a lot of good things like making all the runs that are not being found, like dragging the defenders all over the place and creating space for other to exploit, closing down the opposition constantly and triggering pressure from his teammates,

You seem to forget that Son, in his first season, was also quite poor in some matches and only scored 4 goals in 28 games. The adaptation from one team to another isn't exclusive to player from abroad. Torres to Chelsea is a good example of how a change of team even in the same league can be difficult to manage.

As long as the team is winning and he is contributing to the win I'm satisfied

Fair play to the lad. You just have to want to see someone succeed that has the values and honesty that he has. I really hope that we can see the best of him here at some point, for his sake as much as ours as it obviously weighs on him as he's spoken before about wanting to repay the faith we showed in him by spending so much money on him, and he's clearly a very emotionally vulnerable person, and that's no bad thing.

For the time being though I think it just makes sense for all concerned to take him out of the firing line and put the pressure on Sonny to lead the line, as I think he's in a better place to take it on at the moment, and hopefully we can work Richy back into goals from the bench when he's got himself mentally back in the right place.

Get behind him. Absolutely no reason not to, he’s a fantastic guy by all accounts and he wants to be successful. Give him the old Trea Turner treatment and see what happens.

The message I replied to was a standalone post in which you made direct comparisons with Gakpo using just numbers, making no mention of the fact that Gakpo might also be contributing more than his numbers suggest.

Fair enough, I don't see what you do in terms of his movement but that could be down to me not being all that tactically astute or just wanting something different from my striker.

Son took time but he's also a weird one because he's always had purple patches and months of being anonymous, but valid in terms of him adapting. Torres was finished as an elite striker before he left Liverpool.

Have to take issue with your last sentence. For me that's not enough because I think there players around who can make us much better who will bail us out when we aren't playing as well in certain games. I like Richy's attitude and he will get better once he understands what Ange wants, but I still see someone who doesn't have all the tools to make that position his own.

I think this part in bold is what 90% of disagreements on football will stem from. You want someone who will put up more numbers and I want someone who's primary job is to help the team. We were completely spoilt during the time we had Kane because he would do both but he's a world class players and number 1 in the world in my view so we have to remember that we're not going to always get both those outcomes and it sometimes becomes a choice of the two.

In truth neither of us know 100% what Ange wants or expects of him so we just have to wait and see if he keeps making the team.

Hoping that whatever is needed for Richy is done. If he needs time away from the first team squad, hopefully we have patience. If he’s involved we need to get right behind him (which we obviously will).

It’s up to Richy to force his way back in the team, no reason to drop the front 3 from last game.
Ange on whether Richarlison will play tomorrow: “He’ll be involved. He trained today and he looks fine. We'll provide all the support he needs and we'll try and help + sort of guide him to be in a place where he's happy about himself. But he'll be involved tomorrow. Absolutely.

We need to win football matches so if Richarlison isn't in the right frame of mind to give his best we can't be playing him, we can't simply help him with kind hearts and coronets.
That said, today's game ought to be one where we have some leeway and give him a chance without jeopardising the result.

He'll be on the bench. Whether it's depression, anxiety, stress... it's a difficult situation to handle. On one hand you don't want to throw them straight in and expose them to further intense situations, but also you don't want to completely cut them out and risk them feeling isolated.

I was signed off work for 2 months or so earlier this year. In a normal job you just take time out. I don't know how realistic that is in professional football.
