He is the main reason I'm thinking midfield is NOT our first priority for new signings, as our bench in that area is stacked.
The only question is does Bent force his way into the starting XI and if so, who gives way?

Over the last 15 and a bit games, we conceded 29 goals without Bentancur (roughly 1.93 goals per game). Before that, we conceded roughly 1.48 goals per game. That's a big difference in the rate that you ship goals.
We literally dropped a level in defensive solidity, ball retention and attacking drive without him. I think he’s an incredible player and if there’s one player I’m really praying comes back just as strong after injury it’s this guy. I just absolutely love watching him play the game

He's deceptively athletic. It takes a while to recognise that he isn't a luxury player, as he has the style of a slow, silky type who doesn't do much of the dirty work. KInd of like what you'd expect Berbatov to be like if he played in CM. But he's actually strong, aggressive and covers the ground surprisingly quickly.

I have to say that I forgot how many goals he got.
yeah quite a few, i think his energy and stamina was also a big thing and that was in a 2, i think he'll thrive in the midfield 3 and probably add more goals.

Can't wait for him to get back to full match fitness, glad we have the luxury at the moment of easing him in with our midfield options

If he gets back to his old self he'll improve us even further at the back and going forwards.

I'll even take a 95% Bentancur. Gorgeous player to watch when he's on it.

Gotta be Sarr, no? But it's a tricky one, cause both him and Biss are doing remarkably well.

It's Sarr, when Benta is at his best again it will be Biss and Bento, Sarr is going great but still is developing. he might pass Benta and Boss later but he's not the level of Biss and Benta. Its not hard it's quite simple. Sarr will get time and develop every game and will come in when the other two are absent. Again I think Sarr has a high ceiling to develop but you don't bench a fully fit Benta for him. Of course Benta might not reach his previous levels with his injury or could take a year or so to fully find that form and then Sarr gets more game time earlier.

I think Ange likes the athleticism of Sarr that may lead to Bentancur having to bide his time. African cup of nations in Jan will give Bentancur game time and if he does well Sarr will then need to fight hard dispossess him.

Yeah agreed but Benta has that athleticism too, it’s a huge trait of his plus he’s quicker than sarr.

Can't remember who he made his debut against but he came off the bench and immediately did a piece of skill on the edge of our box to escape an opponent. Didn't know anything about him before then, but from that moment I was sold.

Just looking forward to hearing the magic phrase

"Bentancur is back in full training"

Then we know it's only a matter of time.

Can't wait to see what he can do in this system/team for Ange/us. (y)

Exactly what I always remember. The speed and accuracy of his feet to navigate out of trouble really shut me up. Sometimes you can just tell a player in seconds

Bentancur is absolutely phenomenal and was one of if not our most important player prior to his injury. If he returns to his previous levels, then quite simply he's one of if not the first name on the teamsheet. I absolutely love the guy, I think having him in a midfield three with Bissouma and Maddison could be extraordinary, I struggle to think of a better three in the Prem.

Agreed he is our best midfielder and probably our best player apart from possibly Maddison and Son but it's close. People have short memories and tend to forget just how good a player is. He is also a good goal scoring threat from midfield which we sorely lack (apart from Maddison but he plays higher up). He will walk into the side if he can regain form and fitness.
