My concern with Reggie leaving is Sessegnon's dreadful injury record, and that's the main reason I'd like us to sign Dwight McNeil. We'd then have adequate cover and free up a non HG space at the same time, and not for a whole lot of money I'd imagine.
But then we’d be paying £10/15m for a player who arguably could not be needed for the season. Better to spend elsewhere and worse case scenario davies covers LWB and lenglet LCB

There's no harm in a bit of extra depth, especially if it's HG, and there's a shitload of games next season too.

Augustinsson, close to closing his exit to Aston Villa... while Sevilla points to Reguilón as his substitute.

Happy days if he can get a move back to Sevilla if we're not going to be keeping him. Always like to see players at least get a good move when we have to shift them, and it probably doesn't get any better for Sergio than to go back to a club he played so well for.

They want no obligation and to get Reguilon to lower his wages (i.e. we would cover a portion of them). Don't see that happening.

I personally think he can make a great wing back but it seems that ship has sailed, I don’t think it’s his fault, sometimes you dont get the rub of the green

He hasn’t been reliable due to him constantly struggling for fitness and constantly lacking match sharpness due to match fitness

It’s called negotiation.
Sure. I can see that negotiation going real well.

Them: We will loan reguilon. We'll only take him if there's no obligation to buy and either he'll have to volunteer to get less money during the loan or you'll have to cover some of his weekly pay.

Us: You can have him, but you will accept an obligation to buy and you will also pay all his wages.

Presumably we will have a Jedi leading the negotiations.

And if nobody moves, both sides move on. The first rule of negotiation is that you have to be ready to walk away. I‘m constantly disappointed at how few posters here understand that fundamental principle.

Yeah, that's why I said it's not happening. ?

Under those terms it would be a nonstarter.

I’ve always liked Reggy since day one. Never questioned his commitment and effort in games. I think if he returns to Spain he will regain his form and place back in the national team. Though, I much prefer Perisic and giving Sess more game time. Wish him well if he leaves. After all, he was apart of Bales return and helped to make it such a special time for the fans.

Could be like Kulusevski, it’s an option to buy until certain criteria are hit then it becomes an obligation. Those kind of deals work out because if they hit the criteria then the loan has been a success anyway.

Could be. I imagine we'd want a more favourable deal to protect ourselves and to maximize the benefits though. I can't see us willing to subsidize Reguilon's wages in any case.

Hoping theres a transfer in the works for him and that's why hes been left behind.

If we don't want him fair enough but feels a bit harsh to be on that list with those other three!

Agree with that. You can’t fault the guy’s effort. Still think there’s a good player in there

Really liked him when he first joined and looked like we got a proper player but his form dramatically dipped and Covid & lockdowns probably played a part as he was alone in London for a long time.

The one thing that dirtied his bib for me was when he told the club / Jose he was spending xmas day alone and Jose went and bought him that Spanish ham but then it turns out he wasn't spending it alone and was actually breaking rules by having Xmas with our argies. As much as I hated Jose I did feel that was a shitty thing to do to him.

A bit like Royal he is a full back and if our system demanded full backs they would both be very good. However it doesn’t and therefore we need to move them on for the good of the club (as they can’t play the position we require) and them (decent lads with a high ceiling in their best positions).

No more thinking people will grow into roles they aren’t suited too.

In terms of the Sevilla link. I’m a bit sick of Spanish clubs thinking World Football should do them a favour. If they want him pay the price or take the obligation. Otherwise see you later
