I think right now none of the options we have at DM are ideal, but maybe Winks is the best suited.

Dier - Too slow and cumbersome, quality on the ball regressed massively.

Skipp - Young and unproven, no real first team experience

Gedson - Don't think he is a DM, seems like he will more compete/rotate with Ndombele

Sissoko - Injured

Winks - Needs to improve his positional play but has the tenacity.

We need a Carrick.

Winks is probably the closest to a Carrick type out there. Not a lot of defensive DMs out there right now. There was one I think somebody linked Florentia Luis I think. Def think Tanganga can be a defensive DM but it's too early

I still have my reservations about Winks in a DM role, we had semi-control of that game only after City went down to 10 men. Before that they were all over us. But I'd like to run that out for the rest of the season to at least see how it works.
Agreed, but most sides aren’t as good as City in midfield, and Ndombele for Dele made a difference.

Like you, I’d trial it for the rest of the season and see what happens as we don’t have an obviously better option anyway.

Sad to say, but so far tonight Ndombele looks like a half fit mediocrity. I think he’s got massive potential but I also don’t think he can play more than 20 mins of effective play at the moment. I realise the team have been poor but he is miles off the pace

Ferrari with a Skoda engine. Sad

Stick Mouras engine in Ndombeles body and you’ve got a world class footballer, easily

Not sure it's just fitness, it's lack of effort. Just trotting towards the area with a ball about to be delivered in. He should busting a lung to get in there. He needs to up his work rate, Jose won't put up with slackness. He looks the opposite of Moura, he has all the work rate with less talent.

If you read Jose's comments from Tuesday its clear that the club are putting a huge amount of work into his fitness, and I'm sure the reason for taking him off early today was just so they could keep carefully building up his stamina without putting him at any unnecessary risk. Give him time, his fitness will obviously improve and hopefully be where we want it to be when next season rolls around.

At this point I feel like it's all about getting him fit an prepared for next season.

Indeed, let's see how he is next season.

He's young, french league standards are lower. Didn't have a premier League preseason, bunch of disruptive injuries and not much football.
His talent is obviously off the charts though

What's he been doing since he got here? Was he like this in France too or what?
his always had fitness issues, even at Amiens he was criticised for being overweight, you can get away with it in the French division, but not the Prem

Fingers crossed man. He got serious skills, just praying he can get it together

Didn't see any build up of stamina so far to be honest, a few nice touches in the first circa 20 mins and then he was out of puff. Plodding around, doing no defensive work etc and not showing for the ball anymore. That's just how it has been throughout his Spurs career so far, bar that Norwich game where he got stronger as the game progressed.

Also seemed to correlate to him getting kicked, that was him done. Not great to see...….
