From August to November I don’t recollect his work rate being noticeably by bad... something must have changed. Unless people are basing their assumption off of a 20 minute sub appearance and a 7 second video clip. Where he was actually good on the ball.

Some of us noticed it back then lol

How many minutes did he play August to November..must be quite easy to find out.

10th August 2019 - plays 90 against Villa and scoress and we win
17th August 2019 - plays 90 away at City and gets an assist

After missing 2 matches - In the next 12 matches (apart from Colchester where he wasnt involved) he played 45 minutes or more in 9 of them.

Anyways - taking a 7 minute sub appearance out of the equation he was averaging about 69 minutes a game for those he was available - that takes into account a few 20 odd minute cameos too off the bench..

This is a chicken or egg situation, he's mopey cause he's not playing and he's not playing cause he's mopey on the field.

Both Jose & Ndombele are grown ups and need to figure something out. Really really ridiculous at this point.

Yeah, it's definitely gotten worse since Mourinho's appointment.

Doesn’t start tonight. Guess Mourinho can see his lack work rate is too much of a risk
Imo Mourinhos made a mistake not starting him...he's the manager but if he thinks Ndombele will get up to speed playing the tail end of games generally when we are chasing good luck with that.

Training is for fitness. Matches are for performing.

If he isn't fit enough to play he should put more effort in on training day.

Match sharpness isn't fitness.

I feel like this situation has gotten blown out of proportion. All this talk about a "bad attitude" has been self perpetuated by this forum. By all accounts he is a very private guy who needs more self confidence and desire rather than a bad attitude.

You have no evidence of a lack of effort in training or that a fitness issue isn’t to do with injury/illness.

The only thing you have, at this moment (though you could prove to be correct), is a bit of an agenda.

Either way the point is he will get fit outside of matchday not by playing matches.

Boxers don't get fit on fight night.

The video against Wolves is pretty damning.

Was giving benefit of doubt but there was very little urgency and effort there.

A little more concerned now.

This really is mind boggling, I'm crossing my fingers that all the setbacks have kept him from adapting and that Mourinho is protecting him until he can really drill him and his positioning in pre-season.

I know that some might feel it's not good enough and maybe even wishful thinking, I just really don't want us to have to discard him.

Wouldn't be the first time this forum generates some kind of opinion that's totally wrong but gets eaten up and becomes the public perception. Toxic really.

He's a footballer not a boxer.
There is a difference between fitness and match fitness ask anyone thats played at a decent level.

Thought he changed the game somewhat today. Even put himself about a bit.

I like Ndombele but im gonna be honest - in this case you are so not the voice of reason and youre normally the voice of reason - you bring calmness but not in this instance... arghhh

Yep we actually moved the ball forward quickly for once

Is that because of Ndombele or because we actually changed tactics which meant more options. Afterall we cant move the ball quickly if we have one player up against three opposing players with only one or two options...
