Yeah, this more or less my view and I think quite common with super talented players (which Ndombele clearly is). 10-20 years ago, sure, the culture waa tougher and coaches/managers were more boss like but over the last 5-10 years you see a lot more managers adopt a more friendly arm round you approach for top players. Don’t get me wrong, your Peps, Poch’s, Klopps etc etc aren’t going to take players taking the piss but I think you’ve got to use carrot and stick and in some cases a little more carrot than stick.
Doesn’t look like he’s been anywhere near a carrot for ages

NDombele is done at Spurs. Mourinho will never play him. Shame because there could be a great player there. Good luck at his next club. FShame he wasted a year of his career when Jose came in.

This is utter rubbish.

You have an agenda, and it shows, badly.

Get the frustration and the desire to play him, not fair to blame it all on Jose here though.

Tanguy hasnt covered him in glory while on pitch

Son has done nothing to keep his place as a guaranteed starter?
Since the break? Absolutely not for me.

I'm not saying drop Son, I'm saying some players are worth sticking with or carrying occasionally because they can produce that moment of magic.

I think Jose is trying to prove a point by not playing him and as manager, its his perogative. Such a shame though, because I don't think we are best served with him sitting idly on the bench when we are serving up such footballing garbage at the moment.

Probably my only gripe with Mourinho at the moment is his treatment of Ndombele. I'm not going to be cliche and blame it on his past mannerisms of isolating bad/unmotivated players, I do understand his reasoning for doing so in the first place.

However you cannot shoot yourself in the foot to spite your hand. We need to get him on the field and playing, to build his confidence and God knows we need some magic/creativity, Lo Celso cannot carry this team on his own in that regard.

Awesome mixed metaphor!

Even more pertinent, I think, is that he doesn't seem to have covered himself in glory while on the training ground.

Is this the case? Are you basing this on the whole "if he's not flying in training he's not going to get picked" view? Im only asking because, Jose strikes me as a man who doesn't quite work like that. He has a system and he has very definite ideas of the type of player to play in that system. I simply don't think Ndombele is a good fit for Jose and as such, Jose doesn't like him.

I'm inclined to give Jose the benefit of the doubt in this instance.

Whatever Jose wants out of NDombele, he's obviously not getting it.

I don't think Jose only gives his players one chance; he'll explain the plan to the player then it's up to them to work hard to execute it.

If I was a player and a manager with the record and experience of Jose turned up at my club, I'd say to them "Okay boss, what do you want me to do?". I'd then go and speak to the coaching and fitness staff to develop drills and conditioning programs for myself, as well as watching hours of tactical videos, etc. I am on £200k a week after all, so I should be putting the effort in!!
If I'm still not good enough after all of that, then I suppose I better move club!

Anyway, I'm starting to think that we'll never see NDombele start for Spurs again. These types of situations tend to only go one way.

Actually they go one of two ways...either manager leaves or player leaves. Martial being a very good case in point. I actually have no issue with Jose not wanting Ndombele (he is the manager after all) but he should be honest with the player and tell him he isn't part of his plans imo. Then we can sell him and move on. Conversely, if he does want him, he should tell him he's part of his plans and use him accordingly (20 mins here and there at the moment is what I think).

The way he’s performed in his few appearances, and the way his entourage are constantly briefing the French press, I wouldn’t be playing him either. He did sod all when he came on against Sheffield United. It’s not as if he’s a magic bullet to our problems.

I wonder if Chelsea and United fans were on Mourinho's side when he mishandled Salah, De Bruyne, Pogba and Martial among others

As I said a couple of weeks back, the situation pre-lockdown would have had his Spurs career under Mourinho hanging on by a thread and I mused that Jose may well hold him back and see just how hard the guy will work to get himself right because he was keeping him involved before and not really getting the reaction he wanted from Ndombele. It's not really that surprising.

He's going to be made to jump through hoops and really prove he wants it, and is capable of being focused and disciplined and apply himself 24/7 in all aspects of what you need to do as a pro footballer. Fitness/diet, training standards, commitment and effort, and then all of that and more if/when you're selected and get out on the pitch.

Bingo, there is no way our team would be worse by throwing him out there instead of one of Winks or Sissoko today. Both incredibly average players.

Are you sure?

They follow runners and at least put a foot in. They are disciplined and play for the team.

I agree NDombele is more talented but the point is he just isn't doing the basics of what is required of a central midfielder. Until he can do this he will be a hindrance to the team.
