Indeed. Joe Hart thread needed too:

Cor, @THFCSPURS19 has really dropped the ball.

He must've decided to spend time with people he loves and cares about this weekend. Amateur.

I thought the point of these player threads was to ensure they came from reputable sources, Talksport is dogshit.

Agreed, which is why I put "even if it is Alex Crook" ;)

I was more making the point cos I wanna discuss the possibility of signing Sabitzer, even if it is a pipe dream.

Fair point but the Mirror and a couple of other sites linked us back in March / April. Whether they are considered reputable is debatable.

Ndombele part of this is interesting...

Is he saying that we want Perisic in a swap but Inter are saying not a chance? ?

I’m gonna guess there’s no way Ndombele to Inter happens if they’re not even willing to put Perisic in a swap deal!

The more I think about his performances the more I can see him out the door. He looks incredibly talented as we all know but he looks like a luxury player also. I don't think Jose will settle for pure luxury, he wants grit and work rate to accompany it as well and I'm not sure I ever see Ndombele providing that. I mean I've said I'd like to see him further forward for people to do the defensive duties for him but I'm not sure Jose will settle for that, I think he wants everyone in that 11 working as hard as each other.

I know we need to give players time to adapt before but I can't think of another signing like this who clearly has talent but has injury issues, attitude issues and to be quite honest is a bit of a pushover, for such a big guy the way he goes down at the idea of anyone breathing on him is pretty embarrassing and i'm not talking about diving i'm talking about being a wuss, he's getting paid £200k per week he really needs to toughen up. If he was some 16 year old 5ft 4ins winger who weighed 55kg who looked shit scared against the 'burnley boys' i'd say fair enough but this is a france international who's played champions league but his lack of bravery worries me a lot.

I'm not sure you can work on that kind of thing a huge amount and when you add to that he's got constant niggling little injuries and can't run for more than 20 mins and he or his entourage are pushing for a move why on earth would we keep him?

Equally, the more I think about it the more I’d be willing for him to leave. Of course we could be letting a world class talent go, but we could also be holding back investment in the rest of the team whilst hoping Ndombele will turn things around only for his stock to decrease

Problem for me is, we paid a premium on the gamble of him reaching his potential, which is clearly massive. If he had already reached it, we wouldn’t have had any chance of signing him - or any other player of that level. So, if we let him go, it feels like a huge missed opportunity at having a world class talent at the club.

But I get the other side of the coin is that he could just not apply himself and represent a waste of money. I don’t think Levy would cash-in yet, as he knows how coveted Tanguy was before we signed him - and it'd only take a fairly consistent season to be able to get a profit for him next year if it’s still not working out.

I think the opposite, similar to Skriniar - Inter want Ndombele, can’t afford him, keep trying to throw in expensive players they want rid of as makeweight.

Ndombele has breath taking abilities we need to wait a bit to see it consistently. He is still young.
It reminds me of another young player that we bought and who took time to make an impact. All the press could do was go on about how many games he had played and still not been on a winning side for us. His name was Gareth Bale

The difference is Gareth Bale always worked his ass off to improve trained hard etc at least until he became a star then maybe took his foot off the gas a bit. If a player doesnt want to work hard on the pitch or in training in his first year and is willing to try and leave rather than fight for his spot that kind of determination and hard work is not something you can teach or inspire its something the kane's and bales of the world have and something the taarabts, gio dos Santos's and ndombeles don't. If we keep him another season he wont change and he will just become a joke with no value. I hope i'm wrong but strong fighting mentality isn't something people usually just discover.

Exactly that is the problem. And obviously unless someone has a crystal ball there’s no obvious right answer as to whether we should cash in or not.

Personally, if we know we could break even and it would be reinvested into the squad, I think I’d sell. That could prove to be a really bad idea as he might end up being a world beater, it could prove to be a stroke of genius as he could end up joining the massive pile of footballers with the world at their feet but not willing to put the work in.

I know this could be unfair as I’m literally basing this off what we see from him on the football pitch and in the media, but personally I doubt his mentality and I’m not sure I see him working hard to be the player we know he can. He’s very young, and it’s early days, and I hope I’m wrong, but that’s where I stand

Would Inter really do both Tonali and Ndombele? Seems like overkill with their other midfielders.

His footballing ability isn't in question.

No but his footballing understanding might be. He seems to be a brilliant, inspirational player when it is instinctive but gets caught lacking when he has to be disciplined and have any kind of team and positional awareness. It’s not just fitness or work ethic but those aren’t helping him either. Just not sure under Mourinho he is ever going to be trusted enough to figure it out.

I don’t like the idea of selling any new player after one season, especially ones with no EPL experience and who are as naturally talented as Ndombele, so I’m very keen for him to have 1 more year. Having said that if he’s busting a gut to force a move and a deal can be done that isn’t terrible then do it I guess. I’m not sure he is, though, I can’t imagine he’s loving it but I hope he’s willing to give it another crack.
