Club want it to work maybe for Levy’s pride. It’s almost become a curse of the record signing. Rebrov, Bent, Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela, Sissoko, Sanchez, Ndombele. Some you wouldn’t call flops but none have been a blazing success and it probably irks Levy that someone as astute as him in a business sense has “failed” with the big signings.
I agree. Which sort of begs the question as to how much say Levy has in identifying players and whether we need some kind of DoF!

Di Marzio saying PSG are in for Skriniar. Maybe they could send the cash from that sale our way for Ndombele?

Although could go to Chelsea for Kante.

I really don't think we should be giving up on him right now.

Another thing that isn't great is that Aurier (apparently likely off) and Sissoko (replaceable and ageing) seem to be his best buddies at the club.

Bayern Munich want Perisic back, too - so two of the bargaining chips people wanted might be out the window. Even if they make those sales, I think Conte would much prefer to lay it out on Kante who he knows he can trust

Most probably. Unless PSG come in for Ndombele themselves I'm struggling to see where he could go. Maybe Madrid if they came knocking but there has been no suggestion of that so far.

I think it’s looking more and more likely that Ndombele plays for Spurs next season, regardless of what he, the club, his agent, prospective buyers and anyone else wants. Let’s hope that all relevant parties, if this does transpire, are able to get on the same page, even if that page is ‘get your act together to make the French Euro first team and earn yourself a move to a super club’ or something equally short termist.

As for our transfers, I reckon all we will see now is Aurier our, an HG striker in and IF we can’t say no to an available non HG left back, we get him and loan out Sess.

Looking more and more like he could stay. Which has the potential to be really good for us, as long as he and José are on the same page. If he comes good then that impact and outcome would be far greater than a van de Beek or Sabitzer or any replacement. As far as talent goes, he’s top 5-10 itw for central midfielders. I’m desperate for him to prove it if he stays. He should be as well, which is what gives me hope. If he doesn’t wanna fight with everything to make the euro squad then there is truly no saving him.

Loaning sess out aside that would be the ideal transfer window for where we are as a club imo.

Obviously better to loan out Clarke, but Sess is the one who I imagine will have takers and as we can’t B list them, we’d need the slot free for UEFA purposes.

Though the space could just be created by losing one of Foyth or CCV (genuinely don’t see the point in losing both just to replace with an equally untested 22 year old).

Great minds think alike eh?
Yes.... great :cautious:

Wonder what kind of approach we’ve used with him. Has Jose sat him down like he did with Dele in documentary and given him hard truths like his career could pass him by? Has he been teamed with Sissoko to hopefully be influenced by his work ethic?
If yes to both what else can we actually do to make this guy try? As talented as he is I’m seriously struggling to see how it’s going to work out.

It would only be ideal if we're somehow able to get Ndombele back on side. Watching the Amazon documentary Jose acknowledges that he has a history of bad relationships with certain players, but says he never has any problems with those who share his values. He identifies giving anything less than 100% as being contrary to his values, ergo something that will cause trouble between him and the player, and it's plain to see why he and Ndombele have butted heads.

Unless something changes quite drastically with Ndombele I can't see his continued presence at the club as anything other than a negative in the dressing room. Having the club's record signing and joint-highest wage earner openly at odds with the manager can't possibly be anything other than a bad influence on the atmosphere at the club. I'm very doubtful that we'll actually see Ndombele up his work rate and commitment levels to match Jose's requirements, so while I agree that it's reasonably likely that we're stuck with him now I'm pessimistic that it will turn out for the best.

I’m actually quite optimistic, Ndombele has a history of struggling and needing to overcome, admittedly he didn’t have 200k a week lining his pockets but I think Jose will give him every opportunity to succeed.

it's a good question, because we know José speaks French and so there should be no issues communication wise. He must be able to see his ability and potential like with Dele, but perhaps he just doesn't like his personality? I remember we had ITK earlier this season saying they had had a meeting which cleared the air. That's why I was surprised it seems we are so intent on selling him

Was that before ChocDown?

One thing which is important to remember about Jose, when it comes to this idea that Jose doesn’t want him is that it isn’t about how Jose values him as a player and his quality. It’s about Jose not wanting somebody who doesn’t want to be here or putting the effort in. If you went through the internet you can find plenty of examples of Jose willing to sell to a rival because he doesn’t want somebody who isn’t going to give 100%. We also saw on the documentary his indifference to Levy asking him to convince Eriksen to stay. It’s nothing to do with skill, if you don’t want to be here then Jose is happy for you to go. It isn’t one of those where Jose is desperate to sell imo.
