i also doubt we would replace him with anyone that exciting so we should be hoping he stays and buckles down.

And this is what the club need to make the call on.
If they think he wants to be here and can put in a shift when required, great, he looks a fantastic talent.
But if he isn't putting in the effort (game and training) then why hold on to someone who is taking up a large wage.

For me we still need to strengthen CM and if that's a fully fit Ndombele, brilliant.

If not bring in someone to replace him.
It's up to him to turn this around.

If someone as stubborn as Daniel Levy is willing to sell his record signing after one season, then it is worse behind the scenes than we can even imagine.

Except the most reliable sources say he isn’t really willing to do that.

Which sources are those? Seems to me that most of our ITK (Herc, Dragon, the Goat) and some in the news media have shifted from the early summer narrative of “we won’t sell” to “we’re looking to recoup our money”. Granted, we haven’t had confirmation from top Spurs journos like Ally or Dan KP, but they are hardly rock solid on him staying either.

Ally Gold has consistently said "the club" don't want to sell him. They want it to work with Tanguy. Jose, probably wants him gone but the club want it to work.

Dave Hytner and Romano said the same thing too.

Wanting it to work is a pretty lukewarm statement, especially when we know Ally is pretty conservative in his reporting. I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t want it to work.

I don’t know, just tracking the disparate info this summer, it seems to me there’s been a pretty marked tonal shift the last couple of weeks from we’re not selling and are willing to tough this out to a recognition that we may have to sell due to the situation. It seems different.

I post rarely in here, but my view of the fella and watching him in the rare moments he popped up in the Amazon episodes is, he looks out of his depth and lacking in confidence, he is a lazy bugger on the pitch, doesn't take an expert to see that.
But it might be him more worried about doing something wrong as opposed to him not wanted to do anything at all, Saying all that we don't have room for passengers, so if whatever it is that's holding back cannot be fixed. Then we have to move him on.

I don't even think Ndombele is in the first 3 episodes for more than a minute, the idea that any opinion can be formed of him based on that is ludicrous.

Thats why I used the term "rare moments", The team had just won a game in one scene and he was slouched back staring at his phone, It is also just one aspect, but either way, whatever his problem is, Mental, can't be bothered or a bit of both, it needs fixing or he needs shifting

People love to shit on him but he contributed more offensively last season than any of our other mids (including Gio), in far less game time. He'd be fine as the box to box in a CM3, especially with lo celso and hojberg. Allowing winks or Sissoko the starting spot is a massive downgrade

Would he? Really? I couldn’t disagree more and this kind of statement continually leaves me scratching my head. Surely to be “box to box” you need to be contributing from one box to the other. You need to understand the defensive duties. You need to show for the ball from the defenders when play transitions. You need to be able to open up space with movement to allow your other midfielders space to operate. You need to be able to have vision and spacial awareness.

I can’t think of a midfielder less suited to being a box to box player than Ndombele. He could be electric behind the front line where play speeds up and spaces get tighter and players have to react in a short time and make an incisive pass or dribble. He could be key to unlocking stubborn defences that we’ve struggled to break down for years. He’d have to learn how to press and would need to find pockets of space a bit better but I feel like there is a much shorter path to him succeeding in that role than a box to box.

There's so many videos out there showing changing rooms after matches and players are on their phones - stop being ridiculous.

Can he just finish one game, it all I’m asking for. A whole 90 mins and stoppage time...
...
...

Maybe I’m hoping for too much

Club want it to work maybe for Levy’s pride. It’s almost become a curse of the record signing. Rebrov, Bent, Paulinho, Soldado, Lamela, Sissoko, Sanchez, Ndombele. Some you wouldn’t call flops but none have been a blazing success and it probably irks Levy that someone as astute as him in a business sense has “failed” with the big signings.

Why would you make it widely known you want shot of a player when you want to recoup your money?

If you don't sell him, your left with an unhappy player and reduce his confidence. If you make it clear you want rid, clubs will low ball because why would they pay you a premium to take a player off your hands

You publicly back the player, make it clear you "want" him to stay / don't want to sell, and that he'll only leave if the price is right - it's the only public approach that the club can take

It's obvious that we want to sell Aurier and club is telling we want to sell him
