Oh yeh i forgot that goal v Utd, 1 goal and 1 assist then. Still as a number 10 he needs to push those numbers upwards. People seem to be getting a bit carried away with him especially as he only plays an hour a game.

Lies. Damn lies and statistics. Kane is racking up the numbers because he's in the same space as Ndombele or he's in the space that Ndombele would otherwise occupy. Which is absolutely fine. The numbers will follow.

I'd like to see him play regularly with Lo Celso in the midfield 3, because I think he'd get more space and time.

It's unlikely that opposition teams are worried about Sissoko's attacking threat, but they would be scrambling to close down Lo Celso.

This would allow NDombele to truly run havoc in the opposition lines.
Since Ndombele is actually starting to play well, I would be very opposed to moving him again. Mourinho is actually finding a footballer in him for the first time in a year. Some consistency and the AMC role is what he needs now.

Interesting note from reddit:

Ndombele unorthodox style and where I’ve seen it before.

I’ve been playing and watching ice hockey for over 13 years and when I see him play it’s like watching a coaching skills video. Watching him play I have observed, He often dips low in his turns allowing him to shift his weight and make tight turns. He explodes out of these turns with force often at about 45 degrees from where his feet are planted. In only a few powerful bursts he gets away from his opponent. He shields the ball with his body and stays low giving him leverage when on the ball. The pressuring players are often much higher than he is, which he uses to push and glide past them. His opponents being “higher” means they’re often off balance and stumble as they try to catch him. He also uses his low stance to flip his hips and open up for passes and create different angles. The draw back to this play style is it is extremely taxing physically. elite hockey players only play about 20-30 minutes and take 1 to 2 minute shifts at most. His quads most be burning after just 60 minutes of playing low and engaging in contact like that.
TLDR: Ndombele skates past everyone on the pitch

Interesting indeed. I had wondered something similar.

The counter argument is that Ice Hockey players are making those moves with massively more frequency than Tanguy - he does that maybe three or four times a half, max. I can only assume they're doing that all the time.

He should be able to last longer. If he was more naturally fit, I think he would be. But I do think that he'll get there.

I sort of think that what Jose is doing is managing his squad in terms of fitness and freshness. He can do that because of the depth. Poch didn't do this well at all, but maybe his squad was thinner.

It's really noticeable that:
- He's very gradually bringing Bale back
- He's rotating Lo Celso and Tanguy while they work their way back to full fitness
- He's making wholesale changes for the Europa League
- Nearly every game has some element of minor tweak, whether tactical or otherwise

I think in due course as the fixture list (assuming we drop out of cups etc.) eases slightly and the collective fitness of the squad improves, we'll see Tanguy and Lo Celso play together, and arguably Bale start.

In the meantime, he's getting results while rotating players, which is a totally new experience for me as a Spurs fan.

Agree when we play more defensive teams and have more possession we will prob see, bale, Ndombele, and Lo Celso play and hopefully, it will be devastating, also last two games have been against the city, who you would be stupid to do anything but play deep and counter them, and Chelsea away where a tactical draw was a good result.

In fairness to @DanielJohnCosta he joined the forum in 2015 so he wouldn't have been around for the likes of Keane, Crouch and Soldado on here, I'd add Huddlestone, Rose (more recently) and Walker to the list as well. So what he is saying is true that he probably "hasn't seen it before", but he's just going to have to take our word for it.

Don’t forget Parker too!

We do, as a forum, have a particular gifting in being able to slag off a player. Doesn't matter who he is, what he's done, we'll find a way.

I laughed at Sonny's celebration when he bent over to brush Tanguy's right boot after he scored the goal. Far from his best game but he still chipped in with an assist and did some solid defensive work with his tackles.

Let’s be honest, the delightful through ball apart he was poor but so was the whole team, at least he contributed something.

Dude you got to stop just showing up to slag him off. No one was good last night, but you feel it necessary to jump in here and single him out? It’s confirmation bias.

I didn’t slag him off mate, but even so I call it as I see it. The bloke is talented but can’t last 90 minutes and is a liability in our half.
I don’t have a problem if you disagree, it just so happens Jose appears to share my view, as does the French national manager.
If you get too invested in individual players it clouds your judgement, I haven’t changed my view since he joined because I base it on what I see.

You’re conspicuous by your absence when he’s playing well. And then as soon as there’s a poor performance from the team you’re back. In fairness you’ve said the same about Bale, Sánchez and Davies, just seems strange to feel the need to jump in here when ever he’s had an average game and tell it like it is.
