Imagine this has big implications for our transfer activity moving forwards. He won't be able to do anything for at least two weeks and I'd imagine people will want to wait until he is clear and has any side effects before moving forwards.

Not sure if I'm happy or not with the fact that he will be harder to sell now (I wish it wasn't covid obviously and hope nothing bad happens to him and people who were around him).

I think Ally Gold said in his video chat today he still is hearing from the club they want to give him another chance this season. I was skipping around so he may have said something different.

Well, I bet he wasn't staying home and being careful like the rest of us. One problem after another with him isn't it. Our worst signing ever in terms of VFM. Obviously I hope he's ok but he doesn't seem to be doing himself any favours.

Well I'm happy for him to leave the club and I believe the rumours that he's a bit of a disgrace when it comes to professionalism.

But I'm willing to go with innocent until proven guilty on this one, because there are plenty of ways you could catch covid, without breaking the rules.

I don't think we'll get any line from the club stating that they are open to selling. They'll deny it, afterall later they can say "We didn't want to sell him, we tried everything we could to make our record signing work but he wanted to leave" rather than "He's not working hard enough. We are open to offers."

Just looks better for the club.

This could just be what the club wants us to know. I’m all for backing José on this one, but this has me torn. We’ve given Lamela 7 years, so why not give someone with infinitely more talent a second year to turn it around. (FYI I do like Lamela). Attitude/effort problems aside (although we can’t be certain that’s the case, even with a lot of evidence), I’m willing to take the risk of keeping him. If this season is similar to last, then it really harms him just as much as us. The player himself should be worried what a second consecutive season of controversy and professional question marks does for his attractiveness to other big clubs and his future in the national team. It could cost us money and a bad egg in the dressing room is not good, but the possible benefits of having a game changer in the middle of the park outweighs the negatives at least for now. Ofc if he stays I’d hope it isn’t against the managers will, and he needs chances if he stays, simple as that.
