Well there you have it, frankly I think what is under appreciated and especially on here is that it's not a simple case of motivation but not everybody who is going to move countries is going to find it seamless. You can chuck money and live in a fancy apartment all you want but the mental side of you does not give a shit about those things. Now usually a player can circumvent the difficult of moving abroad by doing what they do best and starting games but clearly, clearly in the documentary he was struggling with confidence because he wasn't starting games and it was effecting his entire personality.
Do I wish he was able to push through and work harder instead of letting those things be a catalyst for not putting in the effort. Of course I do but the amount of people who wrote him off and I'm sure continue to write him off because he had trouble settling in was frankly ridiculous. He's going to come good, I've said it before and I'll say it again he's had difficulties every step of the way and he has struggled initially but overcome. I truly believe he will do so with us and frankly there's no player whose turnaround I want to shove down peoples throats more the way some people wrote about him completely dismissing the possibility he just needed time to settle.
I said ages ago that I wouldn't be surprised if he has been suffering a few mental health issues since his move. Some home sickness, high expectations, new culture and surroundings etc. could all lead to a bout of depression which can be a huge de-motivator. If that's the case he needs a bit of time and space and room to breathe. He's immensely talented and if he can settle we all know what he's capable of.
