He’s so so good. The talent was clear to see from the beginning under Poch. Never quite got the extent of the doubt.
I think the doubt came from his lack of fitness.

In true internet fashion many people decided they knew the reason for his lack of fitness.

Many perceived it as a lack of effort and professionalism and decided this was fact.

Thank goodness whoever it was had a word in his ear and convinced him to stay and that things would come good, sounds like credit needs to go to combination of Levy, Jose, Aurier and Sissoko, because now he's fitter and happier and more settled he's showing the promise we thought he would and wanted him to and he's now our best CM. It's no coincidence we are top of the league and also unbeaten in our last 6 PL games that he has started, he's an absoloutely class unique player.

Some of us including myself had written him off a bit as he just didn't seem to have the required attitude at all and signs were not good that he would change but we love being proved wrong and he's not becoming a fan favourite, good job all round and keep it up Tangy, its a pleasure to watch you play.

I'm hoping he is just a person who isn't very expressive emotionally which did actually come across in the documentary. Because he really does seem quite cold with Jose still when they have small interactions. I would hate for him to now fulfil his potential which is obviously huge then jump at the first chance to get out because he has personal grievances.

body language expert incoming, but does anyone else feel like there's a bit of animosity between him and Jose? whenever he comes off he always looks pissy and doesn't acknowledge Mourinho like all the other players

I was thinking the same actually - could just be him. But yeah, if Jose went for a high five you kind of feel he'd leave him hanging.

Really hard to say.

What is undoubted is that his performances are miles better. He was on a different to everyone else last night. Honestly a class apart.

As others have said, I feel he's better deeper, but not sure Jose 'trusts' him there yet, in terms of defensive contribution. Call him a '6' maybe, long term.

By playing him at 8 though, you effectively get a super solid midfield 3.

He was clearly looking to leave in the summer. Thank God it was blocked/no one came in.

He's got the talent to be the best central midfielder in the league - no exaggeration. Fingers crossed it's good between him and Jose.

Either way, at least now in the worst case scenario we won't take an absolute bath on his price tag. He's showing what he's capable of.

Never doubted his ability, you could see it when he first joined, it was just getting the application, fitness and attitude right.
He is working on it all the time and the only reason he comes off after 65 minutes now is because he is working hard and tracking back. The stamina will come and he'll get more used to it as the season progresses.
Once he can last a full 90 minutes, we have, in my view, one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and potentially in Europe. He is exactly what we needed in the midfield, someone who creates things quickly and can in a split second, open up a team and turn defence into attack. Brilliant player and definitely one of my favourite players as well.
If I didn't support Spurs, he'd still be someone I enjoy watching play

He’s gonna be benched tomorrow, right?

I hope he takes it well, if it does happen- because it would be totally undeserved.

Cant see Jose dropping Sissoko for this

NDombele will start. Mourinho knows how important he is. He is now one of the first names on the team sheet.

It was a lack of effort and professionalism. I've never seen a footballer look that unfit. Never.

If you believe this wasn't the case, what would you accredit his lack of fitness to?

I think he’s just a very shy sort of character. Doesn’t look people in the eye, has his head down a lot. I don’t think there’s a problem with Mourinho at all.

Also, what a fantastic player he is becoming for us. He’s really showing his quality now.

That's the point, we don't know.

There were videos of him breaking lockdown rules by going out training but people still said he wasn't putting in any effort.

I love the way Tanguy beats umpteen players with a slalom run and gets a shot on target from the edge of the box and the commentators fixate on Dele making an (albeit) unselfish pass to Sid. I feel like if Dele had made that run the commentators would have left the booth and immediately started work on his statue.
