Him being as you say "our most dangerous player" speaks volumes IMO for the quality and performances of our other attackers.

He isn't good enough if we want to progress next season. We need someone who knows where the goal is would be a good start.
You are crazy

Considering he is terrible at shooting wouldn't he be more effective playing off the right with his crossing?
He put 3 crosses in from the left which did/should have resulted in goals yesterday. It's clearly his strongest side, no reason to tinker for the sake of tinkering.

He is looking better and better. I still feel he is not top level, but he is being more and more effective and I am less worried if we do sign him.

I wonder how he would do playing every other game - would he still be just as effective? - and it’s a shame he is not a better finisher, but he offers a hell of a lot more than Gil (and the injury hit Solomon)

That said, while getting a 7 out of 10 to replace a 4 is a good upgrade, if someone better is out there then we should go for them.

The idea that we don't sign him looks increasingly mad to me as a squad option or an oft-times starter. He keeps going and keeps running. Keeps being available. He's looking to beat his man even more often now. Relentlessly putting in crosses and cutbacks into dangerous areas. He's got numerous G/A now, plus the OG assist, and plenty that could have on another day been finished from his passes.

I get the argument that there is probably a better player out there in general and I would love us to sign one, but I would want to sign Timo too, because currently he is the benchmark in this system. Gil and if necessary Solomon will have to go if that's the cost, because Timo has put up the performances to date to show that he has value to us in playing this way. Plus he's clearly loving it.

I bet Ange sanctions it. He just seems the right type of player for what he's trying to get us to do, ie beat a man and put balls in to the 6yd box, and has the right kind of mentality and demeanour.

Probably get slaughtered for this view but I’d sooner have Werner in the squad than Kulu.

I think the squad can fit both! They play in different positions.
Hopefully next season will be more cup competitions and we need a decent squad and not just rely on one player per position.

Could we find someone more productive in the role? Probably, and we should be looking for that person too, but they'll need time to acclimatise to the team and the league. For me the LW spot next season should be Timo + A N Other.
get Kvaratskhelia and our LW spot would be sorted out

I think I would. Werner has a role and goes for it. Deki looks very hesitant at the moment.

Something needs to click with Deki. Suspect a change of position could help but I’m unsure

Werner is playing better than Kulusevski at the moment and arguably fits the system better, but without Kulusevski we have no real guile in those three forward positions. We have pace and power but not much trickery or dribbling skills. At least Kulusevski at his best offers a bit of that, although he lacks pace.

I think we already look a bit one dimensional in attack, especially when Maddison is not playing well. I think if we sold Kulusevski we would be giving ourselves a lot of work to do in the summer. I think we would need to buy three new forwards then (including Werner) and I’m not convinced we would get that done. Especially if Lo Celso is leaving too, because that we would be even more work.

I agree he shouldnt be a starter but as a squad option/ to come off the bench he is a great option, imagine at 70 mins being a RB/CB, getting tired then you see that pace come on!

Agree, his pace is a real weapon and causes teams all sorts of problems. For that alone he’s a great option to have.

Where we need to do better though is having more inventiveness in the squad to deal with well organised low blocks, for example.

I've come to the conclusion that we need to sell Gil and Solomon and bring in Werner. He's done well for us despite his limitations and he offers us a threat because of the way we play, he's suited to it.

He can't finish and that likely won't change but as an experienced squad option he does what the manager asks and he causes the opposition problems. He works hard and he has a good attitude too.

Bring him in alongside a real top quality winger and we will be in good shape at LW next season.

Gil yes, but not Solomon. He had a bad injury and will be brilliant when he is back and we will be playing way more games next season.

I just hope we sign him to the right deal for years on the contract because I worry as time goes on about his pace leaving him. He has plenty of other good qualities but without that…

Totally agree, it is important that we still have a mix of options next season.

Werner for £15mil however is an absolute no-brainer but I'd like to see 2 real top top quality attackers signed on top of that if we are to challenge on all fronts next season.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do against more attacking teams now he's settled in to the squad a bit. From memory he was pretty anonymous last time we played City, but then again he'd only been with us for like a week.

I just feel like him, Son and Johnson on the break against a possession based team could be absolutely deadly.

He doesn't even need to have good finishing ability as long as Owen Goals keeps banging in his crosses
