Oh I hope that comes true and we hammer them. When he scores and assists against Arsenal the thread will flip flop again.

This is pretty much exactly the same as what I think about Werner.Personally I think Johnson has a bit more about him than Werner. And he’s five or six younger, so we can realistically expect him to develop whereas Werner not so much.
We can also hope to recoup some of the Johnson fee, whereas it’s unlikely with Werner that we will recoup any fee given his age, albeit his fee is fairly nominal.
Finally I think Werner’s salary is about twice that of Johnson’s, and over a three or four year contract that makes a big difference and it makes a big difference if and when we want to sell.
Sorry I got that part wrong. But he is currently 31 in England and 30 in Korea, not 32 and 31 respectively, and simply isn't 32 yet. Like people kept doing with Kane, there seems to be a rush for him to get old and decline before his time.Sorry but I disagree. The old system counted birthdays as being on 1st January, so if you were born 31st December, you would be 2 the next day. Now they go by the international age, so people have become 'younger '. If it was taken from conception, not only would that make him 32 already as there's only 3 months to his birthday, not 30, but also how can you fix a date of conception?
I don't think he's 30 in Korea either. He would be older not younger by their old method of counting ages. He's 31 everywhere now, and 32 in July.Sorry I got that part wrong. I reckon we can just try to keep him on loan for another season, he's on big wages that I am sure Liebzig like having off their books.I like Werner and think we have a free option to see him play out the season and make an informed assessment and decision about whether to exercise the buy option. He’s so far been a mixed bag but with more good games than bad and some telling moments that have won us points. Since Werner has been here he’s performed more consistently and made more contributions than some of our cornerstone players such as Madds, Biss, Kulu, Bent. Do I want the club to buy him? Let’s see how he performs over the balance of his loan.
I'm on the fence about buying him, however I guarantee there will be takers for around £15m if we don't want him. Loads of Prem teams would be able to comfortably afford that and pay him a decent wage, and he'd realistically improve most Premier League squads.I reckon we can just try to keep him on loan for another season, he's on big wages that I am sure Liebzig like having off their books.
Yes, he is a lot younger and has time to improve.Hypothetically...If Brennan Johnson was on a similar loan, say with a £30m option to buy, would you want the club to trigger his 'loan to buy' option?
Genuinely curious.
Would it be impossible that we got rid of the lot, potentially commanding a total of around £30m - £40m ish? It would be decent business and it would free some space up for incomings and maybe promote a youngster or two?Our net spend has been around £100-150m a season for the last 5 seasons. We have several positions to fill including 2 full backs/wing backs and a reinvigoration of our front line.
Persisic and Dier will be off which will free up some wages then we'll be looking to sell Sessegnon, Royal, Hojbjerg, Gil, Reguilon, Rodon, Spence, Ndombele and Tanganga.
Sadly we won't be able to sell all of these and most won't command a high fee.
On the plus side, full backs aren't generally that expensive. Adding Werner for £15m could be good business but adding someone like Nusa or Kvaratskhelia would be much more exciting and a real sign of intent.
We've completed permanent sale deals at 2-3 a season since 2019/20. So the chances of finding permanent buyers for 9 players is extremely unlikely.Would it be impossible that we got rid of the lot, potentially commanding a total of around £30m - £40m ish? Maybe Big Ange has influenced Danny Boy enough to up the ante in the signings dept...... or maybe I am just being an unrealistic optimist! We've completed permanent sale deals at 2-3 a season since 2019/20. So the chances of finding permanent buyers for 9 players is extremely unlikely.

Finding a buyer takes much more than simply the chairman's asking price, so yes completely unrealistic.Maybe Big Ange has influenced Danny Boy enough to up the anti in the signings dept...... or maybe I am just being an unrealistic optimist!
It is a good deal for him though - it was a great deal for Neto too. You rarely get a player of the quality of Neto or Werner for 15m. Werner is an established full German international with 24 goals in 57 caps. Neto hasnt even got 6 caps for Portugal yet. Not saying Werner is better of course but if you are trying to compare the deals, Werner is still a very good one for the price.Just for people thinking that 15m is a good fee for a player like Werner, that is pretty much the same price that wolves paid for Pedro Neto.
Pedro Neto didn't stand out when he joined. He improved and took his chances as the team evovled. Wolves paid that price for what he might become and their foresight paid out.Just for people thinking that 15m is a good fee for a player like Werner, that is pretty much the same price that wolves paid for Pedro Neto.
Let's face it mate, if Werner was through one on one and your life depended on it...It is a good deal for him though - it was a great deal for Neto too.
