Please explain: from where does this faith in Mauricio Pochettino arise?

I agreed with this in that there are no signs that things will improve next season.
We have had a lucky season in many ways.

However posters are taking this same post and saying that we should therefore have no right to ever hope for a top 4 challenge.
They are lowering expectations for next season and will continue to do so, so that if MP manages to spit his gum out and fart within a few strides, they'll be claiming he has surpassed all reasonable goals.

This is the squad that MP perhaps mischievously said should be challenging for the title.
And in recent years we have indeed finished top 4 once or twice.

It is not impossible and I'd go as far as saying that if the players performance matched their reputations then we should be cruising top 4 every year.

Honestly don't know how you can see this. Compared to the big name players in the top 4 squads our lot are really not in the same league largely.

None of that excuses our terrible play for long periods this season, but even if all our players were individually at their best, I'm not sure any of them would get in many fans' Premiership XIs.

I turned my volume all the way up but I still couldn't hear anything.

Can I download it off iTunes?

The guy is the Ed Miliband of football, nice guy, means well, but hopelessly fucking well out of his depth

I stayed away from footie threads yesterday as was so angry i might have got a ban, but now dust settled i cant find a single positive in the idea Poch is the man to get us into the CL

Not fit to run my bath let alone my team

If we sack him who should we replace him with?

Go all out for Klopp, offer him whatever he needs wages wise

Am sure the prospect of working with young players, and finding youth, would tempt him

This is a good shout a manager who is young but with a proven track record of success, but is it a bit early to get rid of poch now.

One of the reasons he was brought in was to get the best out of the summer 2013 signings, he hasn't done that. I would guess right now the board would be a bit reluctant to back him because if he gets the players he wants and there is still no improvement, the situation will be messed up even more.
So what happens? We either back him or sack him?

Yes but klopp is a huge step up, no compensation, he wants the prem, there are no other Prem jobs going. May actually be one chance for a top manager

Says who?

Based on the hiring, and subsequent hiring of Mitchell, I thought the idea was that Levy/Lewis liked his philosophy, and how it translated from the academy to the first team. The notion being that we will establish this philosophy and make it easier to supplement the squad with players trained in the same system in the academy.

So, this notion that Pochettino was supposed to play one way with these players, and another way at the academy seems to be at odd with this. Many of these players are ill-equipped to play this style, and need to be moved on.

I expect that the next manager we get to replace Pochettino will be tasked with continuing this basic philosophy - pressing style.

Interesting stat pointed out today to me. Sunderland have only lost 1 more game than us this season and conceded 3 less goals. Scary!

I dunno - on paper:
Bobby Soldado should be knocking them in for fun. He is a mature and proven prolific goal scorer.
Adebayor - captain of his country, he is unplayable at times and is a mature and proven goal scorer in the prem.
Lamela - rising international star who is hugely gifted and can create and score at the highest levels.
Paulinho - Brazilian defensively minded established international who can regularly score by arriving late in the box.
Capoue - highly rated multi-disciplined unit, happy to serve in defence or a DM, and has an eye for a goal when he comes forward.
Chiriches - multi-disciplined mature defensive international, captain of his country, who also has an eye for a goal.
Vertonghen - fantastically gifted established international who is capable of dribbling the length of the field and score
Walker - one of the fastest RBs in the country and England international.

If you add to that lot Eriksen - a supremely gifted international with a good return of goals,
Kane, England's hottest property, Rose arguably one of our players of the season, a sprinkling of Belgium internationals, and some amazing youngsters like Bentaleb, Holtby, Dier, Rose; add experienced prem players like Daws/Lennon/Kaboul, and then add Lloris - one of the best keepers in the world,
then yes that is a squad that should have been pressing for the title - certainly top 4...

Long boring post, but these are very capable players.

In theory.

Very, very good post.
Too many posters are comfortable, and are happy not to compete. Losers.

Pochettino won't be sacked...am sure

Well, if he gets sacked of course there are managers out there...

i) Jorge Sampoali (Chile National coach who has transformed them into a feared SouthAmerican team in 3 years)
ii) Gary Monk (one season wonder or a really well measured manager ?)
iii) Klinnsman (Of course a link to an ex-Player)
iv) Mark Warburton (If there can be ex-player, why not a up & coming manager who is also a Spurs fan)

Whoever it is, if Levy doesnt back his manager, what difference does it make who takes up the job...
