Who was the man of the match?
The last time I did this I was accused of a bias but there will be none of that here.
The answer to the question is Gareth Bale and he seems to be getting closer to that Ronaldo/Messi bracket of players.
I might do some ratings later when I'm more coherent.

I was tempted to do a MOTM poll without Bale but there you go.

Thought everyone competed well, and some good moments of chemistry but overall we looked disjointed in possession too often for my liking. Defence did very well they had three what I would call lucky chances can't remember a defensive error. Dembele looked a little suspect first half but improved, and Parker looks to be returning to his normal self. I'd give everyone a positive 6, Bale a 10 clearly the difference today. Bit of a break in the PL till the Spammers now, looking forward to the Lyon game.

Ooh just remembered Naughton played well but his lack of a left foot was very evident, not his fault, but I think the team will function better when BAE is back properlyA.

should have left Bale out and asked who was our 2nd most impressive player today, that would have been a contest

I thought Parker was good, few misplaced passes, but got stuck in well and seems to be returning to form, Lennon worked his socks off, very good defensively, didn't quite happen for him attack wise. Dempsey started well and put a real shift in. Didn't really happen for holtby but took up some promising positions and had a few decent shots, should have probably scored with one. Lloris mad a vital save and was quick of his line as normal. Bale motm by a mile though, better centrally now, how did he not score a hat trick. Ade was decent when he got on. Hard to judge the defence, generally ok, naughton can hit a nice long pass. Daws made a few very good blocks, unlucky deflection. Caulker kicks the ball out for throw ins too often for my liking rather than clearing it up the pitch or spotting a pass, made a lovely surge forward in first half and almost set up a goal.

Bale - 8 - Developing into a talisman, just hope he maintains his form and doesn't fade away like previous seasons.
Speedy Gon-Llorris - 7 - Saved two points at the end of the game.
Dawson - 7 - Solid.
Holtby - 6 - Good opening to the game (along with the team) but faded as Newcastle got back into the game.
Lennon - 6 - Good defensive work.
Parker - 5 - Naturally his level of play is dropping but he needs to know his limits.
Dembele - 5 Poor game and it doesn't help that he dwells too much on the ball and doesn't see openings quick enough.
Dempsey - 5 Poor game.

wasnt very convinced by our performance today. started well. faded. passed it about a bit."Baled out!" the end.

10 for bale
5 the rest.
ADE -1 touch of a fingerless hairdresser.

No need for the poll as even the blind can see that Bale is MOTM. 2 great goals, 2 super shots saved and great running into position to give the fans a souvenir ball.

Ade helped create a chance at the end for bale, him and Dempsey did well on the break, overly harsh.

Parker did very well today...as has been stated, looked back to his old self. Those giving him a hard time after today's showing kinda forget what he's there to do...he's not a playmaker or incisive passer, he's a destroyer, and that's what he did today, especially second half.

Lloris 7 didnt have much to do really, but when he needed to he made one quality save. So fast out of the box

Walker 6 I dont recall being vexed by him today, did ok. Not too much going forward however, but better

Dawson 8 outstanding i thought

Caulker 5 hmm bit shakey for me, and he let cisse ghost past him for a free header which he should have scored, and then caluker himself missed a sitter

Naughton 5. so so, bit ropey

Lennon 6. lacks much ability going forward. threatning moves offen break down with him to be honest, good defensively though

demebele. 6. not bad, glided past a few players like old, players around him didnt have the brains to play the one two which he kept looking for. Newcastle players constantly trying to put him in the hurt locker.

Parker 7.5 top stuff, like parker from last season, good tackles and lots of contribution all round

Bale 9 MOM. carrying the team again. needs to work on his right foot

Holtby - 5. hmmm honestly can't remember much apart from a few decent shots

Dempsey 5.5, worked hard all game like he used to at fulham, poor touch, control, passing and shooting otherwise

Ade 7. worked his ass off, team played better once he was on. played some good passes

BAE -5. played the perfect through ball, unfortunately to a newcastle player, thankfully we have lloris in goal
