Right now, I just don't know, having not seen all of our new signings play yet. We could really be brilliant and it's way too early to give up. I want to be optimistic and aim as high as possible. Let the team prove me wrong!

Dont get me wrong I love your optimism :) the three I mentioned have strong settled squads, so its hard to finish above them this season with a transitional team. Arse have a settle team but with less depth and quality so we can take them on. The key for us is the really early part of the season and how many points we may drop while everyone beds in.

Absolutely. This year could be the most competitive ever, and we have as much potential as anyone. Fergie won a lot of championships with arguably weaker squads than ours, so there isn't a reason we can't win, as long as our team (and fans) believe. Seems like you have to aim for 1st to get 4th right now, so we have to try. To dare is to do and all that.

I've predicted 4th, but it could any of the top 6 to be honest, will just depend on things such as injuries and how teams gel.

Chelsea are favourites for me, they have a great mix of solidity and flair in serious depth. Man City should challenge Chelsea, but they run the risk of having a new manager who is new to the league.

If Liverpool can keep away from too many injuries, they have a great chance of doing well. Very strong first 11, finally playing under a good coach.

If arsenal had dined the right players I would have reluctantly had them as strong tile contenders. Fortunately they didn't. They bought an upgrade to players they already have. A great upgrade, but they needed a DM a CB and a GK for me if they are serious.

Man Utd; there for the taking. Yes they have the best striker in the league, but their depth and all round quality doesn't look good.

Us; the sky is the limit. If Eriksen and Lamela hit the ground running then we have a great chance of finishing higher than fourth. I think we have the strongest squad outside of Man City and Chelsea, but may take some time to reach top gear.

I can't see us toppling chelsea and city, but maybe 3rd above Utd?

Really Chelsea in front of City, I think the other way round City will score more goals I think and ultimately win it this year. Chelsea will grind out results though. Ive not seen much of Liverpool missed the games of them on TV so I don't know how well they have been playing to pick up maximum points so far.

I just think Chelsea will be less prone to the odd slip up. Liverpool have looked decent to be fair.

Here's my guess on the possible points totals this year:

Team: Estimated possible points range
Spurs: 63 - 85
Liverpool: 63 - 85
Arsenal: 63 - 85
Utd: 63 - 89
Chelsea: 68 - 94
City: 72 - 94

In other words still to early to say! :) I think the wider points ranges reflect greater uncertainty, so, for example City have a higher lower threshold than Chelsea, but the same upper ceiling.

I see us, Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal all of similar quality, and then a bigger gap to City and Chelsea, but I also think that any team can potentially finish anywhere from 6th - 1st, just some are more likely to bomb or fly than others.

i think liverpool will do better against the lower sides than we will.

Ha! Funnily enough I think the opposite, I think they're more susceptible to the Stoke/West Ham blood and thunder up and at them type tactics than we are. I also think their brand of possession football will encourage teams to sit on the 18 yard line in two banks of four and invite them to break them down. The same problem will face us of course, and on the face of it Liverpool are better equipped to find the key than we are, and obviously a lot will depend on Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Townsend, Hotby and co settle and click with each other, but we have strength in depth and our under-belly is granite. Particularly second half of the season, all things being equal, our depth should start to pay dividends against tiring mid and lower league sides.

Anyway, it's all very speculative atm, and I wouldn't state my case too strongly at all. I do agree that 6th is an eminently possible result given the strength of the opposition.

i just think they have more cutting edge in the final third than us, hence why the regularly won by 4 or 5 last season.

Yes, looks that way, although we'll have to see how Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela adjust to be sure (and how Holtby develops), but they also look to have a potentially softer under-belly!

Won't vote until a few more games have been played. Want to see how all clubs' signings are bedding in and performing.

I'm saying 6th I'm afraid. I can see it taking a good few weeks for our new players to understand one another, the system we play in, AVB to realise that it's not working and needs to adjust here and there, for players to get used to the league and the club, and also we'll have to wait for January for some new fullbacks/centrebacks once AVB realises the current incumbent aren't that great or too crocked. By then I think Arsenal, Chelsea and the NW clubs will be out of sight and we won't make up the difference in time.

On the plus side I see a large gap to 7th.

It is how many points we drop while the side beds in that determines our fate I think, as the season rolls on I think we will become better. This means upcoming games against Norwich are vital, I guess its a good sign that although not playing stellar against Palace and Swansea we still took home the points.

Im thinking it could be really close as well. fancy Chelsea to wein it and mates from other clubs say the same.

city should be 2nd

then its interesting with four clubs in the mix.
id plump for our extra depth to sneak 3rd ahead of Liverpool in 4th.
arse to finish 5th and I have a feeling utd will stumble to 6th, my utd mate belives they will not finish top 4 under moyes. he expects SAF at the helm by jan if they are stumbling
