Honestly, that Audi cup has turned you lot into a right self entitled bunch of brats. You're expecting us to win every trophy now?

It's almost like you're forgetting we can pour pints from the bottom.
Now that is a neat party trick - do you spill much?

Feel a bit deflated - somehow I was convinced Chelsea would drop points tonight and we would have an outside chance of top 4 still. I know it sounds stupid but it’s the first time I’ve accepted champs league is gone. Sadly I just don’t believe Man City will be kicked out so think 5th won’t matter.

Unfortunately I now have to put up with my Liverpool supporting husband jumping around the living room ?

Yep. That's what I'm more pissed off about tonight.

We’ll never win it. We will never spend the money required. I’d still rather be us though than those despised throughout Europe dirty cheating hubcap stealing motherfuckers. Hope all that nivea gives the ****s a nasty itchy rash too.
Liverpool winning it rather than e.g. City goes to show that we can. January 2018 is when things changed - before that we were much the better team, in the CL while they struggled to make the EL, and had just destroyed them at Wembley. Since then our net spend has been £131.33M - theirs' has only been £63.46M. They haven't spent more than us, far from it. But they've bought smarter, prioritising the defensive positions and spending whatever it took to fill them as well as they could. And they've sold smarter to fund it, selling Coutinho at his peak for more than he was worth rather than us being unwilling to listen to offers until a player had started to decline. In addition they've had much fewer issues with fitness and injury, whether that's because of better staff or because of their transfer policy. There is absolutely nothing about Liverpool's success we're not capable of replicating.

So glad we're still in lockdown and working from home as I don't have to immerse myself in an office environment full of reds. It would have been unbearable

I want us to win the league ??

I want us to win anything. Any fucking trophy. Maybe soon fans will stop turning their noses up at winning the league cup or fa cup. Winning a trophy is a fuck of a lot more than winning coming fourth in the league. Sure I'm pissed off we wont be in the champions league again after getting so close last year but I'm still haunted by that champions league final game. I don't think I'll be over it or enjoy football until I'm in a stadium seeing us win a trophy.

they lucked out getting as much for coutinho as they did, then they went and spent £150m+ on just two players, both instrumental in their subsequent success. You ever see levy spending that kind of money on key positions? I’d agree with you if we suddenly spent £100m on the best dm in world football followed up by another £100m on world class full backs but we know it ain’t ever going to happen

I fully think the stadium caused everyone at the club to take their eye off the ball. We started to think we were bigger than we are and we'd arrived, when really we were nowhere near. The virus has screwed us using our stadium to our advantage now too. I really think it will be a good 3/4 years before we have a proper chance of challenging for the league and we wont have the best striker of our generation playing for us then. It almost does feel like we've missed our chance.

We spent £60m each on two different players last summer, and that's without managing to bring in any significant income from sales. I don't think £70m is remotely out of the question once football's recovered from Covid.

We'll see. I honestly don't think we're that far off anyone except Liverpool. If they drop off (and they're certainly due some injuries, Mane wants to go etc - it's far from impossible!), we have a chance. And even if it is 3-4 years from now and by then Kane has either gone or isn't what he used to be, there is no reason we can't compete without him. We might have missed a chance, but there'll be plenty more to come.

I tend to agree, I think a RB, CB DM and ST gives us the depth we need to have a healthy squad. We need to sharpen up the attack and continue to improve our system. Once we do that therer is no reason why, with the squad we have, we can't be up there.

Son, Kane, Lloris and Lo Celso certainly are up their with the best. Bergwijn is looking like a typical Jose player. Sissoko isn't the best but he certainly can give as good as he gets. Aurier has his moments but is still one of the better RBs in the league. Dier has been excellent recently. Lucas and Lamela are valuable players that can certainly contribute. Ndombele is the enigma at the moment and if he can get himself sorted out he'd be incredible. Some elements are there. Just hope Jose can get the signings right.

was reflecting on Hugos comments from a bit ago - the part we didn't fully appreciate was that we overperformed with Poch particularly the final year at the Lane and then dealing with the adversity around the Wembley period. It allowed Levy to justify taking his eye of the ball on the football side. A bit of a sliding doors period really. What if we weren't as far along on the stadium, we'd stayed at the Lane instead of the Wembley move and invested a bit....

Shame one is a complete dud that can’t be bothered to run after the ball once its left his boot.

So Frank Lampard has won more titles for Liverpool than Steven Gerrard. Silver lining I suppose.

This is grim though, there’s going to be nothing in the telly for weeks apart from this shite. It’ll be like when the queen dies.

Pretty much the whole Exec board at my workplace are Liverpool fans. A few months back they were saying how they'd be putting up banners and posters when Liverpool won, as well as doing a Liverpool themed celebration in the staff canteen. I'm so glad we're in lockdown.

In my old job the Executive Director was a Liverpool fan and every Friday he'd email out a weekly summary and always included something about Liverpool's game on the weekend. It's just embarrassing. I can't think of any other fans who would do that.

Fair dues to Liverpool. It's a bit sickening to see since I've so many Red supporting mates, but they're a phenomenal front-foot side with an unreal level of aggression with and without possession. Klopp has worked wonders there.

If that had been us we'd have been loving it. Normal behavior is out the window, common sense left the building ages ago, if 500,000 people can descend on Dorset, with a large swathe of them ending up clogging Bournemouth's beaches, then you have to accept this will happen.

Might be an age thing, but I've always been treated very well by Scousers on my travels there over the decades, and even in Madrid last year the ones I ran into were very decent. New fans, the younger generation, are wanky, but that goes for most clubs sadly.
They deserved it and I have a lot of time for Klopp.
I cannot believe we lost our bottle when it came to Pochettino though. On June 2nd we should've been giving that man everything he wanted, should've been doing it for the year prior. Instead we let it rot. Until last season, we were better than them. It was ours to lose.
