Villa's midfield is looking quite tasty this season. I doubt they'd do a Leicester but Villa are likely to have a season that a team of their stature deserves.

With Barkley and Watkins they look much more like a Prem side as you don't feel like everything has to through just Grealish.

Calm the head. We were rubbish against Everton and deserved nothing. We have been transformed since though.

It’s not about what we deserve, don’t be so naive, it’s about what we get.

Doherty so nearly scored against Everton, we only lost by 1. As I said, fractional differences.

Grealish has better support now, much better recruitment compared to last season.

Has to be said, some brilliant recruitment by Villa.

Martinez, Cash, Barkley and Watkins are all really good signings.

Is this psychologically damaging? Do they feel like they have to do penance by losing more matches or something? No idea how this will affect them.

I’d still have liked Barkley at Spurs. Think he would have done a great job at adding depth to our squad.
