I agree, the proposal is a good one and might well be what actually happens. But the financial aspect of not finishing the season is a killer.It's not a bad shout and had been suggested elsewhere. I suspect though that the PL especially will first turn over every stone in a bid to play out the remaining fixtures.
The PL haven't released any figures but the President of La Liga (or the Spanish FA, one of the two) spoke about how much the league in Spain stood to lose from any of the likely scenarios. Alvaro Romeo ran through the figures on the Totally Football Show recently.
Voiding the season: €1bn loss
Finishing behind closed doors: €350m loss
Finishing in June/July with spectators and starting the new season on time: €150m loss
I imagine the figures are at least equal in the PL, probably greater, and there's no way in hell the PL and the clubs will decide to void the season before all other options have been explored.
