Rated this optimistic because 15 of 40 points were won in January and half of February, so there’s little to suggest that we’d be carrying over to next year as good of an ability as you are suggesting. The long term form we are in presently in is a point a game.Do you remember when people used to do those annoying league tables if they were based on the calendar year, where we would come top

Total so far 2019 - 40points
I know you meant it as a joke but from the 30 league games so far this season, we have got 40 points, so we have the quality to avoid the drop. If we carry this form on to next season we should look at around a 51 point finish.
Which btw would have us around 11th place
Absolutely the reason why this needs to be a thread. The complacency is astonishing. We're not talking about 5 or 10 games, we're talking about 25.We’ve got 25 points from our last 25 games.
We’re getting worse.
We need at least 26 points from our next 26 games.
Realistic thread.
?
Correct but some people like to be deluded and ignore the facts and form because poch and do no wrongAll i see is excuses for our results, you can forget about 2019 but what about this season ? 3 wins from 12 ... theres no hiding from the position we are in, thats the reality we face & the sooner we all realise the better
I remember a few years back when we were hovering around the drop. You have to look at the players and weigh up which ones have the character and that will to win when everything just feels lost.
Back then it was Keane - you could rely on him. A team with him in was too good to go down.
I look now and for a team that was in the CL final, I'm struggling to find quality players with that fight in them. Of course when you are chasing top 4, everyone is confident and has that desire. Fighting relegation is different and a real test of players and manager,
But I think it is Son. He is far too good to be in a relegated team. He would conjure up that goal in a 6 pointer.
No-one say Kane please - he looks like he's given up already. I don't care what he does in his free time with England - he has been poor this last year.
Anyway, as long as Son stays fit, I think we'll be OK.
I think we should have enough quality in the squad to sneak 40 points
I think you are absolutely projecting. But that's OK.You are absolutely mental

Deny it all you want but there are plenty of examples of sides in europe one year and relegated shortly after.
The year we did go down, I think we had been in europe fairly recently.
I didn't think we'd go down then as we had John Duncan who scored for fun. Then he got injured...

Come to think of it, all this started with Mike Dean and that match vs. Burnley in February. Our season wasn’t too bad up until then.
Never fear, Dr Tottenham coming to cure what ails youWe are absolutely losing to West Ham next week, because they've also been on a horrible run of form
Luckily for us, it looks like 38 points will be plenty to survive this season!Rated this optimistic because 15 of 40 points were won in January and half of February, so there’s little to suggest that we’d be carrying over to next year as good of an ability as you are suggesting. This is not a joke and i am not trying to be funny but i think it now needs to be taken very seriously. As people have mentioned in other threads, our form in 2019 is worrying, 25 points out of a possible 75 is something we can't ignore.
Anyway, the magic mark to avoid the drop is usually 40 points. We currently sit on 14 points. So we need to get a further 26 points from the next 26 games (possible 78 points).

Based on the above 26 games - i see us winning 4 games, drawing 11 and losing 11. Thats 23 points which takes us to 37 points in total. I'm not sure 37 will be enough. In the past when we have been close to getting relegated, we have brought back former strikers half way through the season to help us avoid the drop, not sure who that could be this time around.
That's good news, would hate to be in the championship and inflict on the club the pressure of having to aim for a trophy.Luckily for us, it looks like 38 points will be plenty to survive this season!
I don’t mind arrogance, it’s complacency that worries me.
I agree with the comments about the entirety of last season's form but I am still hanging onto the hope that Poch can at least turn things around sufficiently to give us a half decent season because I don't see changing manager( and entire backroom team) mid season is going to be very satisfactory and we certainly won't have the choice of candidates available to take over.We weren't even playing well up until that point, we were just scraping wins in fairly even games, basically the opposite of what's happening now. We only played genuinely well in a handful of games last season. We are currently one of the worst teams in the league, regardless of the quality we have. Poch hasn't become a bad manager overnight, but it's pretty obvious he can't get these players performing anymore, so unless we replace basically the entire squad he simply has to go!
