How the hell can Adebayor be 8th. His total goal/assist combination last season alone was better than Lennon's in the last three years. Even taking into account his poor end product last season, in which he played 1300 minutes (about 14.5 games) less than Lennon he was still only 5 behind Lennon. Over the two seasons he's been with us Adebayor's combined goal/assist is 34, Lennon's is 19. And he sees more ball.

Adebayor has played the equivalent of 49 games over the last two seasons. He scores or creates a goal every 1.45 games. lennon has played exactly the same. He creates or scores a goal every 2.6 games.

Come on fellas, use your noggins.

mate, you're wasting your time. I've always assumed it should be clear to anyone with at least a double-digit IQ who the better player is, but when I read about Lennon on here sometimes, I start imagining a cross between early Thierry Henry and George Best, so maybe I'm just missing something.

for the record, Adebayor should win this one by a country mile, but hey....

Interesting that 3 of the top 5 were new to the club this year, hopefully this years intake can do just as well.

If this thread was created just before last season started, Adebayor would have been voted 2nd, behind the GOAT.

Dawson for me - it's not merely about individual ability because it's a team game, and he encapsulates everything about a team player.

Come on fella, use your noggin. You are comparing a right winger to a centre forward?

Statistically Clint Dempsey is a good player. That certainly does not translate to what I have seen from him on the pitch.

But surely you have to take in to account that the reality is he is a bang average central defender?

Ekotto. Poor season (with mitigating circumstances) but superb for the previous 3.

I can't see how it can be anyone else. Adebyor is a useless lump, Benni has been called one of the best LB in the league by many of us. If this was last summer there'd be no doubt.

Love Daws but he's not good enough at times. 10/10 for effort but he's slow and his clearances often end up going straight back to the opposition

By that logic this whole exercise is illogical. And I agree it is. But if we are ranking in hypothetical terms of a notional "importance" to our team, then there isn't really any criteria you could apply that puts Lennon ahead of Adebayor.

While I do agree with your point, I think it should at least be noted that a striker is statistically likely to have a high combined goal/assists tally when compared with a winger. Look up the stats for who in the league had the most last season, you'll find it being mainly strikers.

Top 10 only three are strikers

Obv goals are going to be dominated by strikers but goals conceded is going to be dominated by goal keepers
