I'm going to make myself unpopular here, but Lennon and Adebayor are far more important players for us than Sandro and Kaboul... I voted Lennon for 7th, now Adebayor for 8th, even though I think they should both be higher.

If
Is this for last season or overall quality?
i think it might be for last season, but player as in `playa' with the Ladeeees! Surely thats the only reason that Ade can be in 8th place? I dont think id vote him 1st if the question was 'Most important player in Ade's shorts last season.'

By that logic this whole exercise is illogical. And I agree it is. But if we are ranking in hypothetical terms of a notional "importance" to our team, then there isn't really any criteria you could apply that puts Lennon ahead of Adebayor.

The whole exercise is logically illogical.

I was just surprised you used stats so frivously, especially when you are so quick to rightly question similar use of such stats, whilst more often than not you use stats appropriately - and most importantly in context.

While I do agree with your point, I think it should at least be noted that a striker is statistically likely to have a high combined goal/assists tally when compared with a winger. Look up the stats for who in the league had the most last season, you'll find it being mainly strikers.

Adebayor also assists more and sees more ball.

I used them because although they play completely different roles within the team, they are both players who's primary raison d'etre is to facilitate the creation and conversion of goals. It's not like Lennon gets himself involved in team play or even sees more ball than Adebayor, he doesn't, so a direct comparison as to what they offer offensively is valid IMO.

Why argue about Lennon in the thread after he's been voted in? And as this one looks nearly over, shouldn't we be arguing about Walker vs Dawson or something?

How the hell can Adebayor be 8th. His total goal/assist combination last season alone was better than Lennon's in the last three years. Even taking into account his poor end product last season, in which he played 1300 minutes (about 14.5 games) less than Lennon he was still only 5 behind Lennon. Over the two seasons he's been with us Adebayor's combined goal/assist is 34, Lennon's is 19. And he sees more ball.

Adebayor has played the equivalent of 49 games over the last two seasons. He scores or creates a goal every 1.45 games. lennon has played exactly the same. He creates or scores a goal every 2.6 games.

Come on fellas, use your noggins.

I think it's just frustration with Adebayor's poor season, he honestly looked very poor most of the time. In the final few games he showed his class, I just wonder where that was before? Was he not fit until the very end of the season? Or not bothered?...

In terms of skill, Adebayor is probably in the top 5. In terms of attitude I'm not so sure? It's just hard to pinpoint what his problem was for most of the season. But it is not skill alone that makes one a good player.

I think we all know that an in-form Ade is a good player, but seriously, 4/5 decent games this season? Sorry mate but it takes more than natural ability to make a good player, things like passion, desire, mental strength, consistency ect ect all play apart. In Kaboul's case it's reasonable to look back to last season as hes been out injured for this season, but it's not really fair to look back in Ade's case, we have to judge him on what we see now. Lennon has had a far better season, and it's perfectly rational that he is above Ade in the ratings.

I'm just looking at this latest poll and I cant believe so many of you are voting Ade above Dawson, remember guys, it takes more than natural ability to make a good player!!!

Average is harsh, but still, I'd rather have an "average" player that gives 100% every game than a player that clearly has ability but cant be arsed (Ade). Funny how 2 good games at the end of the season has got people thinking "Ade's back!", when the reality is he did buggar all this season, couldnt even be bothered to get on a flight back from the ACON, now that's commitment for ya!

Can we add Andros Townsend and the two Tommys to the next ones, please?

Oh, I'm sorry, I think that is my cat that somehow seems to now be among your pigeons.

I'm not about to say that Adebayor is the epitome of commitment, but crap like this winds me up. The well-publicised reason why he didn't get a 'plane back straight away isn't that he 'couldn't be bothered', it's because the President of Togo asked all of the squad to stay so he could meet them.

Would you be saying Parker, Lennon or Walker 'couldn't be bothered' if the Queen had asked for the squad to stay behind after a tournament and they had stayed? If you're going to criticise Adebayor, at least talk some fucking sense.

Someones got their pretty little panties in a twist?......So the President wanted to meet the players, that takes 7 days does it? Baring in mind the President had already met Ade before the tournament, this is a poor excuse.
