Trippier higher rating than half the team?

He was very poor in the second half after an ok first half. No way he was better than winks.
I think he defended fine all game making good reads and getting tight at the right times, and I'm not going to be overly critical if I think a player makes just one mistake, no matter how bad it was. He was one of the few to make good forward passes and got the ball to our players between the lines and in the channels. I think all our attacking players, bar probably Kane, were shit. Winks made a few mistakes that went unpunished before we conceded and had a bad game overall I felt.

Don't see the point in bothering with ratings, they hardly seemed to bother tonight full stop. Absolute limp dick of a performance, topped off with a ridiculous own goal. Handed them their cup final on a platter.

Nothing positive to say at all.

Man do we need them to pull something out of the bag on Saturday.

Our build up play is very predictable, slow passing around between the centre backs until it eventually goes out to a fullback then maybe pass made to a run down the line or pass back inside, and start again shifting slowly side to side. Teams know our best work is done when we find those pockets between the lines, so they just keep a narrow CM 3/4 and it renders us pretty toothless. we are relying on eye of the needle stuff and when our touch is off our creativity is nil and we turn to hopeful balls in from wide or rely on moments individual brilliance.

Coupled with no pre-season meaning the players levels have been lower than usual and they've been playing catch up from game one, Add in the injuries (due to WC and pre-season) and zero investment, and it just adds up to a low energy game atm.

Lloris, i put the majority of the blame for both goals with him, the first one was a weak left foot shot that he reacted poorly to, and second comedy goal he should have been at the edge of the box but decides to come when Trippier is being closed and left with no option but to pass it.

Toby, really poor for the goal, apart from that fine.

Sanchez did pretty well.

Davies, Pedro ran off the back of him but not sure he could do too much about it, apart from that meh.

Trippier, defended OK for the most part until he and Hugo decided to form a Keystone cops tribute act...

Winks, not much of note, needed to be more confident in demanding the ball from the CB's and FB's seemed to hide a bit, Chelsea's tactics left him with little options when in possession.

Sissoko, hustled and bustled, some good some not so.

Son as bad as he has been this season, everything bounced off him.

Eriksen, lethargic, and lacking in creativity.

Lamela, tried hard, did a dew nice things, skirted the line between feisty and stupid. his huff and puff didn't really lead to much.

Kane, nowhere near as expected (just like when he returned last year and took about 5 months to get match sharp.

Llorente, actually had a few nice touches when he came on, still little effect at the business end.
Moura, zero impact.

Anyway. onwards and...:nailbiting:

I knew coming in this thread what the narrative would be. Loads of abuse, mostly aimed at the usual scapegoats, and it's just as expected.

Now I'm as pissed off as everyone with the result tonight but I'm also frustrated with the same old shit being spouted in here despite what actually happened in the game.

Go back and watch it again and you'll see that Chelsea's best player Hazard, who everyone was shitting themselves about pre-match, got taken off after doing the square root of fuck all. The reason for this was the defensive work of Trippier, helped by Sissoko.

But all we are getting in here are ratings of how the crowd thinks rather tham the actual performance

The second goal, as was the first, was down to Lloris. When I was a kid I was taught that if a defender was facing his goal the keeper, who can see the whole picture, takes charge.

Trippier was waiting for that to happen. Sadly Lloris decided to drop him in it and the rest is history

As for the rest, Winks and Sissoko were good. Kane did his best with no service. The three AM's did BC proud with bumbling.

But it was Lloris who cost us that game. Not any of the popular targets.

Now let's just hope they wake the fuck up before Saturday.

I hardly so this but i watched the game yesterday om tv in Mauritius till 2am.
Chelsea was hungrier, more aggressive and wanting it more. They took the game and was determined to score early.
I thought we did well to weather the storm in the first 15mins.
But Mr. Trippier made vital mistake and in my honest opinion is an awful player. This is not the first time he has made vital mistakes.
Lloris should have saved and done better.
Sissoko has taken all of us by surprise this season and him, toby, sanchez were very goos.
Winks was ok - he is a good young player.
Eriksson was poor.
Lamela - was ok.
Should have been rose instead of davies at LB.
Son was not at his best.
Kane still haven'tfound form.
But once AGAIN trippier was pants...

We lost when eveeyone else won.
We lost against a team that played more minutes than us and supposingly in disarray because of manager and player.

Do Poch and his coaching staff watch and analyse opposition teams? Chelsea's defensive weakness is is on their left with Alonso at Left back and David Luiz at Left CB. Surely the best lineup against them would have been 433 with Son WIDE right and Moura WIDE left which would have stretched them and helped expose the space between Luiz and Alonso. It was 25 minutes before anyone attacked them down their left side! Playing a diamond meant they always had 2 against 1 down the flanks (which led to the 1st goal) and we had no width with all our attacking players playing in the same congested area in the middle.
Am I the only one who is thoroughly bored with this passing out from the back machismo bullshit. I lost count of the number of times we turned over the ball in our third because of it. Playing out from the back is a fine principle but to continually put yourselves under needless pressure is insane. Why does Lloris not have 1 or more outballs? When Schmeichel was at Man U his out ball was always to Giggs out on the left wing. But then Lloris can't kick for shit.
That's the second time Tripper's passed back to Lloris blind that's cost us a goal - the Man City goal he headed back to Lloris without looking where he was. Having said that I thought Lloris was at fault for coming out towards him instead of staying put.
Eriksen was once again pathetic. In many ways he sums us up. Stylish, silky player but no grit or determination which is qualties you need from your best players if you want to win things.
Rushing Kane back again has once again proved to be counter productive.
Another game where Poch has got the lineup, tactics and substitutions wrong and where he does little or nothing to change things when the original ideas are not working. A bad night all round and unless Poch gets it right and the players actually turn up on Saturday it's going to be a disastrous week

The most worrying thing for me is the lack of creativity in the last two games. We look bereft of ideas and as someone said above our play is all too predictable.

If the fullbacks are not offering any attacking threat we are pretty toothless.

We really miss Dele and his late runs into the box. His movement seems to create so much space for others to operate in and that’s what we’re severely lacking right now.

Lloris 1 - dreadful all night.
Trippier 2 - with Lloris, ruined the last 10 mins with an embarrassing error, generally poor.
Toby 4 - got too easily beaten by Pedro.
Sanchez 6 - one of our better players and completely nullified Higuain.
Davies 2 - offers absolutely nothing in defence or attack.
Winks 4 - first half was good, 2nd half got overrun.
Sissoko 4 - just an ok game but got overrun in 2nd half.
Eriksen 1 - disgraceful performance. First touch was terrible, passing was worse, no work rate.
Lamela 2 - work rate good as always. However as usual his quality is non existent once he has the ball. Rabbit in head lights.
Son 2 - seems he is a centre forward, not a winger! For him to be dangerous he needs to play upfront with Kane.
Kane 2 - good first half, invisible 2nd half.

I thought Winks played well.

Kane did well 1st half. Non existent in the 2nd.

Sanchez and Toby come out with some credit as does Sissoko and to an extent Coco.

Son was abysmal and Eriksen was quite frankly a disgrace.

Our FB are shit and we know that.

Oh. And I see fuck all leadership from Hugo.

Winks and Sanchez were decent.

The rest were below par. Son, Lamela and Eriksen were awful and gave the ball away continually.

Kane trundled around.

Lloris is having a real mare of a season. The number of saveable shots he gets beat with are racking up. It’s not like his decision making and distribution are mitigating factors. Both goals he contributed significantly to.

Toby, Davies and Trippier were scattergun and cost us.

Sissoko contributed fuck all apart from running around without the ball. Hardly got on the ball at all. After his brief renaissance, the last two games are making me even miss Dier.

Poch - baffling Llorente sub after the same on Saturday. Didn’t change our shape or approach to adapt to Nando’s one strength.

One to forget. It feels like we need our edge back and can only hope that a returning Alli and Dier might give us that. We’re in a scrap for fourth, let’s not kid ourselves.

Aurier over Trippier every day all day. He does alot more good than Trippier, particularly in the big games.

Do our centre backs keep getting injuired id that why Poch keeps rotating at the back, cant blame it for why we did’nt score but surely it has a effect defensively?

I know Tripps made a mistake, although Lloris was more culpable imo, I actually thought that was one of his better games, particularly from a defensive point of view.

I think we have a problem though at the back. Poch is making too many changes now, it's not just full backs but he's constantly changing centre backs and the system.

I think that breeds more uncertainty and we're causing a lot of our own problems, not to mention lacking rythm.

Think we need to see a committed and settled side for a while with minor changes so we can get going. Of course tactics come into it but changing for changing sake is just strange to me.

I mean surely Sanchez should of started the game against Burnley. Watched the Newcastle game live and he was the best player on the pitch, managed Rondon so comfortably. Burnley are physical, he should of been the first name on the team sheet and thought it at the time.

Some strange decisions from Poch recently and I know they have all the information regarding fitness etc, but I really am perplexed with how we're managing games a bit closer together.

And we had 9 days rest prior to Burnley.

If we're not going to play with the high intensity anymore why do we need to make so many changes? Keep a settled side going, stay tight and compact and let our match winners carve out chances.

I'd prefer a ruturn to our high pressing style, and no better place to start than this Saturday.

Like I have said before we lack options to really change things. Losing no Dembele Wanyama Dier has hurt us big time. Poch said the squad was good enough without signing he was obviously wrong.

Missing Dele (10) tremendously.
Son (4) needs a rest..
Lloris (4) culpable for both goals and hair-raising distribution at times.
What is the point of Moura?
Lamela (5) ineffective though tried
Eriksen (5) is there anybody there?
Winks (6) ran out of buzz
Sissoko (6) Filled in the gaps.
Sanchez(7) and Toby(6) did OK apart from goal.*
Davies (5) did his best but not really good enough.
Trippier (6) did ok apart from clinical finish

* Bit like saying he was a good man until he murdered his wife and was executed.

Everything is catching up with us including our rivals for top four
Take a draw now for Saturday

Forgot HK(6) Needs Managing. Seems to play when he wants where he wants.
Shouldn't have started v Burnley. Our biggest asset but not fitting in.

That calamity of a goal was solely down to Trippier not once did he look up to see where his keeper was.

Watching the second half performance really has worried the daylight out of me not one shot on target all game, our play was predictably side to side and back just labouring a long not very nice to watch. To many of our players going through the motion not working hard enough Chelsea were there for the beating they were just as bad up to the point they scored.

To much responsibility laid on the shoulders of players such as Toby Sanchaz Sissoko and Kane, Son shouldn't use Kane as an excuse nor should any fan, Eriksen!!! never thought i'd say this but if he wants out seriously not signing a new contract we must thank him and move him on quickly.

Lloris 4
Trippier 2 time to move on.
Toby 5
Sanchez 6
Davies 5

Sissoko 5
Winks 5

Lamela 4
Eriksen 4

Son 5
Kane 6
