My Assessment: The team was sloppy coupled with a lack of composure, but were in no danger of losing or drawing the match.

Giovani Lo Celso was my MOTM

Gio was obviously MOTM but I gave to Sanchez as he played well, is a long term servant of the club and some of the people on here need to take a step back and look at themselves

he deserves support or else we will just have another depreciating asset

Gio by a mile, but Sanchez was back somewhat close to his best, and Stevie really impressed me with his confidence and ability to beat his man consistently in his cameo.

I absolutely agree that every player needs our support while they play for us, but what do you feel has been said to warrant people “looking at themselves”?

Sanchez and Tanganga were actually showing signs of trust and cover in a back 4 second half. I think the first half 3-4-3 was a little unfair to them as our midfield was being overrun leaving them to cover space or having to mark a dribbler or runner simultaneously. I have to say Davinson stepped up today, he may not have a future here but both CBs did the job.

Davies and Doherty I barely noticed at all, probably a function of their wingbacks. Not sure if that’s a good or bad sign.

Bale and Vinicius just looked to be doing either too much or not enough. Carlos is an absolute unit up front and I’m puzzled why Jose didn’t experiment more with Kane and him on the pitch at the same time. Bale needs some electricity to his game, he looks timid but will be needed soon.

Winks was OK. Also, not that it mattered but Tanguy was shocking when he came on.

Excellent: Lo Celso
Very Good: Lucas, Bergwijn, Sanchez, Tanganga
Good: Vinicius, Winks, Bale
Decent: Doherty, Davies, Hart, Kane, Son, Sissoko

Lo Celso, easy MOTM.
Also thought Lucas was great, especially driving at them centrally

Gio had the crowd chanting his name for a couple of brilliant defensive efforts. That was nice to hear.

lo celso obviously
but I'll add Hart's distribution is superb. Genuinely world class.
We know about the rest of his game, but that wasn't tested tonight.

Gio. Getting back to the player who was dragging us through matches last season. Nice all round performance and a lovely goal to cap it off.

Ndombele struggled to find a team mate when he came on.

I just noticed that people took any chance they could to criticise him in the match thread, even if he played well and made some great tackles.

GIO by a country mile, very happy he got a goal too.

Others of note or not :

Tanganga again looking decent and gaining confidence and fitness
Sanchez seemed better although they didnt really pressure us but he seemed more assured than in recent weeks
Moura did well put in a shift, could have been more sharp but maybe thats lack of game time in PL games.

Winks, D'oherty hmmmmmmm less than meh, struggle to see what they offer on these performances, especially the latter

Davies as a footballer cannot pass a ball, its truely baffling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the issue is that some of the great tackles come from situations of his own making where he shouldn’t have ever had to make a great tackle in the first place.

GLC comfortably our best player and I love Tanganga he’s got a great future ahead of him. The writing is on the wall for Winks and it’s early days but I’m not convinced we’ll pay serious money for Sid. Hope I’m wrong but he needs to do more imo, the goal apart he was poor.
