Bergwijn was a battering ram. proper team player display that was. i dont think we can win that game today without what he brought, so he gets my vote.

Incredible from Hojbjerg - always in the right place....and so many tackles! Davies was good....noticeably less attempted crosses....no bad thing as he always hits the first man, some great defending. Toby looks absolutely at home these days.

Sick of people on the other thread having a go at Bergwijn. He was very good aside from the finishing but that will come. We have some player there when he gets going. Hojbjerg at his very best. What a player he is.

Good to see more flexible tactics in a tricky (on paper) tie. Enjoyed it,
but both teams sloppy passing so not high quality. Could have scored more.

Lloris..........7.........Never really tested but always in the right place.
Doherty....5.........Not really an upgrade on what we had before or what we've got. Silly red card.
Toby...........8.........Solid in defence, Amazon level distribution and a goal to boot(head)
Dier.............6+......Patchy passing at times. Could be so much better if he concentrated.
Davies........7.........Much better when he is only asked to defend.
Winks........7..........Sound, nothing negative, although even that assessment is a tad negative.
Hojbjerg...8..........My mom sorry, sorry Freudian slip. Strong and focused as usual.
Tanguy......8..........Not quite in the game enough but brilliant when he did. 90 minutes here I come.
Bergwijn...6..........Puts in the effort but finishing for a front man is very average.
Son.............7+ Great movement and finish for his goal. Literally breathless performance.
HK...............8.........Good game all round. Quality assist. Dribbling new baby standard.

Mouriho got the tactics right, showed a bit of flexibility and didn't invite Leeds on too much

So this is what happens when we play on the front foot a little more. I'm not talking only attacking, I'm talking pressing too. We had 3 to 5 players pressing their defence in the second half which pretty much nullified their attacks compared to first half when they were digging out half chances to get a shot off.

If Jose now says he wanted them to attack, I will believe because we wanted to progress the ball instead of hit it long.

Jose 7 - we had more intent

Bergwijn 8 - man of the match for me. He got into spaces and did fluff his lines but he kept getting into those spaces and freed Son more. There was another big side to his game, the defensive side. The lad did it and kept on getting up and down the wing.

The rest did well enough with Son, Kane and NDombele being the ones getting us on the front foot. This is what we needed today.

Easy game today. Complete style mismatch and it's no surprise Jose beat him 4 times in 4 matches with a 15-2 GD. Ndombele MOTM for me.

I don't know if that was Davies's best ever game for us, but it's the best I've ever seen him play. I'm beginning to understand why Jose rates him. Kane MOTM for the unbelievable pass though.

I thought it was a pretty standard Davies performance. Solid. I’ve seen him play better than that and get slated.

A very well needed 3 points today against a team that sets up well for us

Thought we did ok with one great goal between the deadly duo

Thought we still had a very poor last 20mins when we did not create one chance against a side that was flying forward at every opportunity

Man United tore Leeds apart in the last 20 mins, could have scored six!!!

On paper both Brentford and Marine set up nicely for us so here’s to a good week ahead, all being well!

Sonny my MOTM for a great finish an incredibly hard working performance and for joining the 100 club

7 Lloris - some good saves
5 Doherty - Poor offensively (again)
7 Toby - V steady and v good goal
6 Dier - Poor distribution. Followed up Toby's goal well and put the ball over the line if the header had not counted
8 Davies - Good defensively.
7 Winks - Positive in possession
8 Hojbjerg - Commanding. Tidy in possession
8 N'Dombele - Exciting. Getting more influential game on game
8 Bergwijn - Was positive in possession and just needs a goal. The keeper made a terrific save from his 2nd half shot
9 Son - Great goal. Probably should have tried to shoot when he was free in the box and passed square
9 Kane - Best player on the pitch. Creative and positive

We were positive in possession which was encouraging given our last few performances but were helped by Leeds continually giving the ball away. I was perturbed by the 20 minute period near the end where we were so passive and we fell back just like we did against Palace & Wolves.

I think we need to bring in Tanganga at Right back. Far more dynamic

Pleased with the points

I thought Davies was our best defender, and Hojbjerg our best midfielder, and Kane scored and assisted, but Son - with his goal and his work rate just edges my vote for MOM.

Lloris - 7
Doherty - 5
Alderweireld - 7
Dier - 6
Davies - 8
Winks - 7.5
Hojbjerg - 8
Ndombele - 7
Bergwijn - 7
Son - 8
Kane - 8

Sissoko - 7
Moura - 7
Vinicius - not enough time to judge him

Mourinho - 7 - Tactics spot on - much better balance between attack and defence, but thought he left the changes far too late.

Other thoughts...
Doherty looks well below the standard we need at RB. Surely Tanganga is a better back up for Aurier?
Dier was very sloppy first half and needs to buck his ideas up.
Pretty much spot on apart from the 7 you gave Moura, thought he was pretty poor to be honest. Much as I wanted Doherty to be the answer at RB he just looks poor.

Ndombele was very good - so clearly much fitter than previously and disciplined in tracking back and doing his defensive duties. On the ball he’s an absolute master.

Son motm for that incredible finish.
Doherty was pretty poor and I wonder if he is suffering from long covid. It would only have to take a few percent from most players' games to make them look very ordinary. Work rate is so important today.

Hjobjerg was clearly MotM. It wasn’t even close. Not for the first time, either.
