Agree he was good tonight! Still getting pushed off the ball way to easy and dont have what it takes to play in a midfield of 2 in the PL imo, so he wont make it at Spurs unfortunately, hoping for him to find a decent club in the future though.

I enjoyed the speed with which he moved the ball tonight, some excellent incisive passing and a wonderfully taken goal to cap it off.

Lloris 7 Nothing really to do and generally distributed well
Trippier 7 Steady, if not spectacular. An improvement on his previous appearances
Toby 7 Reliable as usual
Wimmer 8 Like the look of this guy, decent pace, positional awareness and strength
Davies 8 Very solid and constantly involved
Dier 7 Playing well and a good shield before his knock
Carroll 7 confident performance, has all the attributes but struggles to take a firm grip of the game
Njie 9 Brilliant today, deserved a goal. would have been my MOTM if not for Lamelas hattrick
Lamela 9 Hattrick hero, cant really give it to someone else
Onomah 8 Very encouraging full debut. Has enthusiasm and drive plus the uncanny knack of creating time for himself on the ball. Early days but the signs are good.
Son 7 (would have been higher if his decision making had been better because the rest of his game was good)

Bentaleb 7 Settled well and despite a few risky dragbacks etc he played well
Chadli 6 Not great but obviously not match fit
Alli 6 Not much time to do much, ran about a bit but makes a few silly challenges which aren't necessary.

Lloris - 7
Trippier - 7
Alderweireld - 7
Wimmer - 7
Davies - 7
Dier - 8
Carroll - 8
Lamela - 10 Guy scored a hat trick. Hat tricks = automatic 10's.
Onomah - 9
N'Jie - 8
Son - 5 Way too many wrong decisions and late passes to the right player. Lost the ball quite a few times all. Just an all around bad day at the office for him. Hasnt been good since he's returned from injury, but i'm not worried. He'll get it together.

Bentaleb - 7
Chadli - 6
Alli - NET

Poch - 9 Only criticism is bringing Alli on. The game was over. Should have taken off Toby and given CCV his debut. No need to bring on anyone in the first XI on in a game like that.

Lloris 6 - Spectator
Trippier 7.5 - No complaints
Toby 7.5 - Same as
Wimmer 7.5 Same as
Davies 7- Reasonable
Dier 8 - Really good before he left the pitch
Carroll 8 - Solid passing, great goal
Lamela 9 - Good goals, becoming the player we wanted from the start
Onomah 8 - Great game, only wish he got even more involved
Njie 8 - Pressed well
Son 7 - Was great and bad. Made some silly and frustrating decision but also did some quality stuff.

Bentaleb - 7 First 10-15 mins awful then grew into the game before becoming really good
Chadli - 6 Looked a bit sluggish
Alli - 6 Nice pass but too short a time to give a bigger score

Pochettino - 9 Bringing in youth players and players coming back from injury but also keeping enough experienced players to hold it together. Only criticism from me was bringing on Alli, he should have given CCV his debut.

Yea did not understand giving Alli the opportunity to get injured carded given the other players we had on the bench.

Tonight really displayed the quality the academy is putting out. Carroll and Onomah were excellent - you can tell they've bought into the system.

Zip Zip Bang Bang

Hurrah (said in the voice of Rik Mayall's Lord Flasheart) for Pochettino and his team selection. Like the Dier/Carroll duo, it had a nice complimentary nature to it, like Morecombe and Wise or the two Ronnies, Dier doing the straight stuff, Carroll delivering the wise cracks. Onomah finally getting a start, three defenders and Kane all rested and we turn in our best performance of the competition.

It's hard to figure out where our early vigour finished and their demoralisation began. This Monaco aren't last year's Monaco but we certainly didn't play this well against them in the first leg. Son & N'Jie are a bit careless and their decision making wasn't always great, but their energy was part of the blitz that had Monaco beat in 30 minutes, and both played their part in those first three goals.

I would have preferred to see Onomah spend more time in the central ACM position, as I think he's more sure footed and sure brained than Son, who I think is better running in from wide areas, but they did interchange so he did get some central time, and he never looked like an 18yo kid having his first ever game.

Lamela will deservedly get plaudits for his well taken hat-trick that had the game wrapped up in half an hour, he provided the bang bang but the man of the match for me was easily Carroll. Saw more ball than anyone (77 passes 90%), always looking to pass-move-pass and he gave us the zip zip.

I don't think the balance was quite right with Carroll and Bentaleb, as they are a bit similar, both metronomic lefties who are constantly in motion, both constantly looking to receive, both exceptionally good in possession but neither positionally the most savvy when we don't have it, but considering he'd been out for most of the season this was a very good performance from Bentaleb too (61 passes 97%). There was also an upside to having two footballing CM's out there, and that was how they enabled us to reassert complete control of the game after Monaco scored; Carroll and Bentaleb just got hold of the game and made sure Monaco were starved of the ball, utterly killing any momentum they might have gleaned from their goal, because if they'd got another, it could have been a squeakier affair. This is a contrast to the phases we have seen in other games, like after we scored against West Brom on Saturday for example, or in the latter part of games this season where players like Dier and Alli stop wanting the ball.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable romp, and yes, Monaco weren't great, but part of that was brought about by the energy of our early blitz, and that was deliberate and earned us the right to play football for the next 60 against a demoralised oppo and but for the omnipresent carelessness we could have punished them harder.

Individual

Lloris - Not a lot to do, but decent enough

Trippier - decent enough, but I promise you, KWP should be out there because he's better, now.

Alderweireld - Good game

Wimmer - Good game

Davies - Did brilliantly for the first goal. Decent enough thereafter.

Carroll - MOTM. Saw more ball, kept us ticking all night, helped us retain the ball at a time when they might have got some momentum, and rounded it off with a delightful goal.

Bentaleb - A couple of rusty moments early on but after that was very good and like Carroll, helped us control the game at a vital time.

Lamela - Wonderful hattrick, to be honest, was a bit quiet apart from that.

Son - Applaud his energy, and he walked off with two assists to his name, but there was also quite a bit of poor first touch and poor decision making or carelessness. Would have been nice if he'd just been a bit more composed at times.

Onomah - Those of us that have seen plenty of him at development level know there is much more to come from this kid, but for an 18yo having his first game it was a very accomplished night and his composure was also important in retaining the ball second half, and also had his moments offensively including a part in lovely move second half and unlucky not to score.

N'Jie - Great work rate and energy, great pressing. Again a tad careless at times or ran it into an opponent instead of releasing but a good game none the less and unlucky not to score.

Well played Pochettino, well played team.

It's been a tough week, so I watched this on the BT box after popping out with the wife for a pint. I can't remember a quicker first 20 minutes, didn't really stop smiling after that

great team performance, great young team. Chased the whole game and made a decent side look terrible

Lloris - yep, he played..

Davies - great cross, looked solid after

Wimmer - Good game, looked confident and capable of stepping in if we have injuries

T.A. - Boss

Trippier - pleased for him, good game

Dier - I wouldn't want to be the one to tell him he was coming off. It's a bit like having your big brothers bigger phycho mate playing in your side, even if he does simple things he brings confidence and backbone to the squad. I think T.A (and Verts) trust him and he lets the side play. Future captain material if he continues

Carroll - I almost thought he disappeared but he kept ticking away nicely. Great goal

Lamela - Class, both a squad player and a flair player. defended, tracked back, tackled, pressed and got in the right place at the right time. Keep doing that and all the hype will be long forgotten.

Clinton - phycho pressing machine. So much of our early dominance came from his efforts, thought he deserved a goal. Probably next season will see his best but I can see why Poch wanted him

Son - Nothing quite worked out right tonight but he still excited. Will be an important player

Onamah - great first start, welcome to the THFC first team.

All of the above though benefited from an amazing team ethic..... we kicked ass tonight.

Only criticism from me was bringing on Alli, he should have given CCV his debut.

I disagree with this purely as it allowed Son to have extra, competitive game time whilst playing up front with a first choice AM behind him. If something happens to Harry we need Son and N'Jie to come in and hit the ground running up top.

Lloris 6 - ittle to do
Trippier 6.5- decent game, but lack of pace limited what he could do whenever found in lots of space
Toby 7 - solid
Wimmer 7 - I feel he is adequate cover
Davies 6.5 - solid defensive performance
Dier 7.5 - very good
Carroll 7.5- zippy, brill goal, gave the ball away cheaply
Lamela 9 - made the most of the space he was given, who needs a striker?
Onomah 7.5 - very good game, ready for a bigger role, will only improve
Njie 6.5- mixed game, at times really scared the opposition, but gave the ball cheaply
Son 7 - Wasteful at times but constantly opened up the defence and always tried to d something on the ba

Alli 6 - never really got into the game
Chadli 5.5 - not a cameo to remember but good to have him back
Bentaleb 7 - reminded us of his talent today, but also reminded us of his ability to switch off,

MOTM has to go to.. Pochettino. What an absolutely amazing team performance. Poch made 7 changes and still got the team fired up; playing some neat, aggressive & attacking football. Lamela, Onomah & Carroll bossed the pitch, using the pass-and-move system with great flexibility, fluidity and the customary "Poch-like" effort!
