Emerson for me but a close call with Romero and Skipp not far behind.
Lots of posters in match day thread complaining about playing with 7 defenders are missing the point - Emerson’s goal is exactly how the system Conte wants is supposed to work. Especially when we have the ball the WBs are attacking players.
- I do find it odd that two of our best performances have been without Conte in the stands. Not sure if there’s anything to read into that or if it’s just coincidence
Pretty sure you'll be reading something into it. ??Happy with the win. Delighted for Royal and Skipp in particular, and they never threatened us.
Worth considering…
- West Ham are total fucking shit, and while I find that amusing, it’s important context
- I expect more output from our front three. I still don’t feel they’re near what they could be. Not sure if that’s an issue with them, the system or their form
- I do find it odd that two of our best performances have been without Conte in the stands. Not sure if there’s anything to read into that or if it’s just coincidence
@Ron Burgundy thanks for taking that in the manner it was meant, just a gentle ribbing. ??Pretty sure you'll be reading something into it. ??
Hugely disappointed in Romero. Every one of his aggressive challenges took the ball cleanly today. The one time you want him to mistime it and snap someone in half…Tricky one today could be one of Romero, Hojbjerg, Davies or Royal.
I went for Romero, he was setting the tone out there.
Stellini needs credit too - dropping Son is quite a big deal for an assistant to make.
Moving Davies back to LB for the first time in 2 years is a big call.
Not giving Porro his first start in front of the home fans is another big call with Levy looking on.
He got them all right.
The redemption game. Davies great at lwb, royal continues to prove he's one of our most important players, Son scores, PEH's epic through ball, Romero crunching everyone - it's like every supporter complaint was addressed.
