Hard to knock any of the players massively tonight, although I do think Winks was poor. The blame has to fall at JM's feet yet again.

We aren't good enough to defend for a full match, very few teams are. And we give so many set pieces away that, however bad the opposition usually are at them, they will eventually work something out and create a chance.

In my opinion, we currently have 2 world class players - Sonny and Kane. But we completely fail to utilise their strengths and ability by asking them to play this way. Furthermore, we have people saying they were poor tonight or looked tired etc. That is completely understandable when we're a) expecting them to feed off the smallest of scraps and b) asking them to do doggies for a whole match. We can't realistically expect them to then be perfect when they eventually get the ball in an attacking area.

At one point tonight I was crying out for Sissoko to replace a poor and cautioned Winks (don't even get me started on Tanguy going off). It was at this point I realised maybe my expectations were far too high of this squad. I love Sissoko and his attitude but realistically he should not be starting for us, let alone Winks.

A CB, CM and LW in January would be ideal. But right not I'd settle for anyone of them and a change in tactics.

Bergwijn is a 27m player who ripped it up in Holland.
GLC is a 40/50m player who carried us through the end of last season and is now struggling with injuries.
Hojbjerg is a top 6 level DM.
Reguilon is a Europa League winning FB from Real Madrid worth >40m.
Dele is out of form but has pedigree as a prem midfielder who can score 15 goals a season.

I accept that we've a lot of very agerage players too (Winks, Sissoko, Lucas, Davies, Sanchez etc) but our first team should be capable of going at least toe to toe with every team in the league bar Liverpool or City. We're certainly better than Wolves or Palace, yet they both outplayed us for large periods of our games with them recently.
This is where I point out that Neto, Adama and Podence are all a big threat then Bergwijn. We do not have one player in our squad that can dribble and scare the living shit out of defenders in wide areas one on one. We have predictable attackers and luckily two of them are very effective, the others are a hit and miss.

Where the hell is Vinicius by the way? Not even on the bench with 9 subs. We had three centre halves and a right back on the bench FFS.

Ndombele was brilliant, starting to really love this guy.

Despite all the criticism I thought Winks was fine and Sissoko was excellent when he came on

No one else seems to think Harry was poop this evening - he gave the ball away constantly, played the try-to-win-free-kicks game instead of challenging for the ball. jogged about all game. Son was poor too.

The Stambouli treatment
But we’re lead to believe Vinicius was Jose’s favoured choice? Bizarre.

No Moura either? Very random. The two Brazilian boys left out. Let’s see how we line up on Wednesday now.

Can’t wait ?

We are a good team with very good players.

We probably have a better team and players than everyone in the league bar Liverpool and Chelsea.

We should not be giving teams like Wolves, as good as they can be, this much respect.

Tanguy MOTM obviously

totally. So disappointing

If we miss out on CL this year, we’ll lose our only good players

Winks, Son and Kane were awful.

He was poop. Just not as poop as Winks or Doherty

Seriously we have to give every single player a 10 because they played exactly how Mourinho wanted them to play.

9 For Kane not tracking the runner.

Ndombele wins the ratings.

Mourinho - minus the largest number you can envisage.

The problem is the tactics. We don't support Son or Kane, we only support Dier and Sanchez. There are no runs being made for Kane or Son and they are having to come to the halfway line to get the ball. You don't want them there. It's stupid to want them there. They need to be in the attacking third going at defenders. All the opposition are now just closing their space now because they know it will be a long ball. Defenders are better athletes today compared to when Jose was winning titles (not cups). They can get to the ball quicker and they are a lot better on the ball to retain possession.

He will turn up just in time for Kane's hamstring to go against Leeds...Happy Fucking New Year!

Ndombele was great. Gave it to the much maligned Sanchez though. Who played the full 90 and was our best defender.

Why oh why do we wait until we concede a late goal again and again before we start trying to attack and get our second?? Depressing and boring.

Kane was knackered against Wolves so too was Son both were equally poor. I felt sorry for Ndombele and Bergwijn when he came on what a torrid way to play football.

N'dombele 8.5 - 9ish

Mourinho responsible for dropping points, trying to hang on to a 1-0 lead with that defence is just a coin toss.

Not sure i agree with the Davies accolades. He by and large had a good game but had at least two major hiccups during the game. He and kane were at fault for the corner and then i remember him making a side ways pass straight to wolves at the transition out of our third in the last 20 minutes (i'm guessing on the timing) that left them with either equal numbers or numerical advantage in a vulnerable area of the pitch. I do remember him getting beat to the end line once too i think by traore but could be wrong.

No doubt that he was one of our better players but not MOTM material. I'd rather have a defender who doesn't make any mistakes over someone making good plays inconsistently.

No Brazilians (Lucas, Vinicius) available for us today! No Brazilians(Luis, William, Gabriel) available for the Arse yesterday! Did they all party together - think one had suspected COVID?

I have a sincere question .
Does anybody else think that being in Europa and starting our season early (traveling to europe and playing 2-3 games per week) has taken a toll on our players?
A lot of our players look exhausted!
