Mourinho - 0

Setting out to defend a 1 goal lead for 89+ minutes against a team on a poor run with no senior striker is a new low, even by Mourinho's standards. Fucking disgraceful. Surprised he didn't bring on Toby, Rodon and Tanganga for Kane, Son and Ndombele in the 2nd minute.

Well at least there were two goals. I had predicted 0-0 as we only average a goal a game over now our last 10 league games and sit all our players back in defence.

Not sure what anyone is surprised or disappointed by the game. You pay Mourinho and you get his anti-football.

The problem is the core players are tired with all these europa, pre-europa and league cup games.
We know full well that we would be out those competitions if we had played the reserves.
To which I'd say good, but fans want one of these low status cups, so here we are, with tired players.

Of course that doesn't explain why Winks also looks so poor - I can only think that it is psychological in that if everyone else isn't working and running, it rubs off.

But ndombele actually had a shot, which alone would get him motm.
And while Sanchez's clearances are still poor, I felt when he had time, he was very good at picking out passes

I have a sincere question .
Does anybody else think that being in Europa and starting our season early (traveling to europe and playing 2-3 games per week) has taken a toll on our players?
A lot of our players look exhausted!
Maybe a bit of rotation would help.

Ndombele was very good.

I dont think i can criticise the players - how can we criticise the players when theyre beign played in a system and tactically in positions that doesnt really allow them to use their skill set?

Son was shit for example but how can i come here and rate him? I mean we know he isnt shit, we know he is far better but how can i rate him given he was playing in midfield literally?

Kane was awful too but just cant criticise him...

Same goes for the likes of Winks, Bergwijn, etc...

We've lost our clinical edge that took us to the top of the table.

2 points from 12 is a hugely disappointing return and that is a concern that José needs to address if he is to have any hope of a future as our manager. If this form continues will Levy back him again with transfer funds?

Just watched the Liverpool v WBA game. WBA had a low block virtually 4-6 for the whole game but when the broke forward(especially in the 2nd half) they did so much better than we did. They held the ball better, they passed better, their movement off the ball was better and they caused more danger to Liverpool than we did against Wolves(or Palace). This would seem to suggest that our recent problems are less to do with the manager’s tactics and more to do with the players application of them. Lots of teams park the bus but that doesn’t mean the attacking players have the day off

Wolves don’t score today if we have man at the back post. Don’t understand why it’s become the fashion not to have men on the posts. So many goals would be prevented if they were there.

Almost every comment seems to be firmly laying the blame at Jose and the tactics. Does that mean almost everyone has chosen to ignore what Jose said in the post match interview? He clearly indicated more than once that he was not happy that we didnt create more and didnt kill off the game before the equalizer. He also indicated that the players did not follow what was instructed at half-time.

So whilst Jose is definitely at fault for certain things, for example I was fuming that Ndombele was taken off and I dont understand why Vinicius and Bale werent at least on the bench. If players are not doing what is being asked then blame has to be put on them too.
The way we are playing HAS to change but im hopeful that Jose also believes that and is trying to get the players to play.

We also so badly need a play making midfielder its untrue. Sabitzer has been heavily linked but whether he is the right player im not sure.

Ndombele probably his best performance for us and still looked like he had plenty left in the tank, easily MoTM And hard to follow the rationale for dragging him.

While I‘m no fan of our tactical approach we win that game if Davies does his job, I‘m struggling to see how people think he had a good game, he was all over the place in the first half and while he improved in the second that was his man for the goal and he didnt get near him.

Similarily I’m not in the school that thinks Sanchez did well, I’m struggling to remember him winning a header. Winks and PEH too similar in that neither is comfortable with the ball when pressed, only Ndombele looked like he could deal with the Wolves press. Wolves with Kane and Son up front would be challengers.

They are either really poor players or have a huge mental block.

Another explanation is they only have one ball instead of two.

Exactly.

He said the same thing in Crystal Palace. The players are not following instructions. We have seen this in Poch's era too, one goal up and players start losing their shit, hoofing everything that comes their way.

Maybe a bit of rotation would help.
But he is rotating.
We didn't expect that line up.
I guess you are referring to vinicius for kane.
But Bale, Doherty, winks even moura has been disappointing when given a go.
I don't think he trust a lot of them.

Yes and its here that my frustration goes into the red . The idea that JM wasn't behind the low block from min 2 is absurd , a barefaced lie.
I hate being lied to when the lie is so obvious . He thinks we are truly gullible to swallow that bullshit .He insults us .

Then of course we have the ultimate JM fantasy/lie . He looks straight into the camera and said stunningly ' We were in control '
wtf !? I mean really WTF ?? . So he sat there as a previously sputtering ,poor form, Wolves team made gilt edged chance after chance and he thought 'This is going great' ?? We all saw the goal coming...except our genius manager .

Then the final insult...as vs other teams , we are in a suddenly perilous situation in the last 5/10 mins and then and only then our team swarms over the oppo . Suddenly the players forget their appalling instructions and go for it even though the genius has taken off the creative players .. We have in those final minutes a totally different team that mebbe could have long since buried the oppo . But no we were a goal ahead so 'Git the wagons in a circle' rules supreme and we hang on for dear life .

We play as if against Barcelona...even when playing Palace etc...the result is , we turn the oppo into Barcelona .Teams in bad form suddenly have a match where there is space to play and they love it . Even in games we squeaked past by the odd goal , oppo managers took heart from their own play and their missed chances .

You can't rate our forwards , they are carrying lead weights and obsessing over their defensive duties . No wonder Kane and Son look so forlorn . Just can't get past the atrocious management on display.

I just hope in their post match meeting someone really lets rip at Jose pricks the balloons of his lies and tries to shake him loose from this dated, failing system .

I think he has a very different meaning to "we were in control" than any other manager we've ever had and takes it to the extreme. We've been brought up to believe that having all the ball is the way to be in control. Mourinho clearly views it as when the game is in front of us and we are positionally disciplined that is what "being in control" is.

I don't agree with it, and I hate the reference.

I liked pretty much everything you have written here but the bit above, for me, absolutely nails my biggest problem. I got hounded for saying our approach to the second half against Chelsea was both defeatist and wrong, but the games since (Arsenal apart to an extent) have only really confirmed my fears. We literally treat every team like they are the best team in the league, which is bonkers. Palace are shit, we treated them like they were playing with Messi and Suarez up front instead of Zaha and Eze. Liverpool don't have that problem and showed it.

Question for the masses, Sheff United have got 2 points all season, if our next game was against them at home would you be confident in dealing with easily?

Mourinho.......... 0.....for his bare-faced after match lies and the negative substitutions.
Lloris....................7.....2 good saves and bravery plunging at the feet of Silva.
Davies................. 5....Good lay off then usual clumsy tackling, sloth, and wasteful clearances. Roasted several times and lost Saiss.
Doherty...............5.....Not even inspired by playing against his old team.
Sanchez ..............6......Not entirely bad. At least plays with his head up.
Dier........................5.....Poor passing and avoided being punished at the end by Silva.
Reguilón..............7...-Made some good runs in the first 20 minutes faded away thereafter.Must have got the stare from José
Hojbjerg..............6.....Not inspired but ok.Puts in the effort
Winks....................6....Unfairly blamed for everything as usual.
Son and Kane....5.....Poor but playing too deep to be effective almost certainly by instruction.
Ndombele...........8....The one bright spot. Inventive, creative and scored the goal. Subbed for his trouble.

A cup for watchable football is a step too far for me.

I think he's lying.

He played 5 defenders and 2 dms, and afterwards "I told them to attack".

His tactics and mouth are saying two different things.

I think the result was ok; would have taken 1-1 before the game.
Aside from that everything turned out as expected:
1) We are only a counter-attacking team
2) JM manipulates the press; says we are in control and want us to attack when it's obvious that we wanted to keep the 0-1 (and who would blame him? Even my grandma knows that JL is a defensive coach).

I think the question now is whether we can break down Fulham because they would try to grind out a 0-0.

Absolutely spot on. We have two World class forwards and they spend the whole game tracking back. Let's play get on the front foot and take the game to the opposition. Sure we may let in a few goals but we will score considerably more too
