I have not seen much of this guy so I am finding it heard to get as excited as some.

I have watched the YouTube clips and checked out his goal record.

I can see he's two footed but only around 5"10.

What's style of striker is he? Poacher? Classic CF?

Any pace? Awareness? Hold up play? Good in the air?

I would be good to he some people educated views, rather than just the "will he, won't he debate".

It would also be interesting to know how many have seen him play, rather than just the usual new signing excitement.

I am sure he's good player but I had seen more of Villa, so find it easier to get excited.

Enlighten me.

Very clever movement and timing with his runs.
Great anticipation to loose balls and rebounds in the box
Solid pace. Not exceptional, but is quite quick over the first ten yards.
Predatory finishing with either foot
Not dominant in the air, but is a fine header of the ball if presented with one
Better link up play than JD
Very consistent

He's really very good. I've wanted him for ages. He's got excellent movement, he's a great finisher, and can hold the ball up. Someone else on here summed him up nicely as an energetic Berbatov. He'd be perfect in the centre of a front three.

He's not a battering ram like Benteke, but he's got more guile and finesse which will help bring others into play. Put it this way, I would have Keegan loved it if we'd managed to get David Villa, but if I was picking between these two and used my head instead of my heart, Soldado would be the smart choice.

He sounds in the Falcao/Villa mold, would you say he was similar to Hernandez at United?

We will agree to disagree then LOL;)

Shat: past participle, past tense of shit (Verb)

Verb
vulgar. Expel feces from the body.
vulgar. Soil one's clothes as a result of expelling feces accidentally.

I'm not being pedantic I just liked the definition :)

C'mon - 30 more pages of spamming to fill til we hit the magic 100 pages that ensure a signing!

It's probably one of the negotiation points.

"Roberto - I don't know if you've seen, but you've hit 100 pages on SC"
"Ah why didn't you say?!" *signs contract*

I'm trying not to get excited about all this but it's failing - I feel like transfer deadline day when we got Van der Vaart at the moment.

He reminds me of Fowler inside the box and he is a bit like djorkaeff outside the box. But he is built to compete in the premier league

Alternatively it's a good name for a shit hat, as in "hey gooner...that's a nice shat you've got on".

I would most definitely label him as a slightly lower level Falcao. Falcao is just bloody brilliant in all aspects of being a striker, and can contribute to overall play outside the box to an acceptable, if not amazing, level. Soldado is basically the same type of guy. Fowler is a good comparison as well by Ryan. Hernandez pretty similar as well of course although a wee bit more of a one dimensional poacher

Soldado oooooooooohhhhhhh Soldado oooooohhhhhhh- We've got our number 9 back, he'll make the Gooners SHIT HAT. Soldado oooooooohhhhh Soldado ooooooohhhhhhh

Well that makes slightly more sense, though it's an odd concept...

Cheers gents, these comparisons are certainly getting my hopes up about the possibility of signing him.

Strangely enough it's been Chadli that has got me the most excited - exactly my type of player, fast, direct, powerful and don't have to worry about him being knocked off the ball every 3 seconds - ahem Lennon.

The possibility of Bale, Soldado and Chadli terrifying defences next year, rather than just worrying about a Bale scud missile will be refreshing.
