Bit scrappy but we have been the better side. I know people will look at other teams results and the fact that we are behind in this game, but this is a really good work out, exactly what’s needed before the season kicks off.
Exactly mate. Look at the players coming off at ht. They look like they've been swimming. This will stand them in good stead for the season proper. I know we'll do well this year.

well

If ITK is to go buy we’re not buying a CAM, with Conte preferring attacker Zaniolo. For me this half highlights how much we need a player like Maddison or Paqueta.
I’d also love to see a Maddison type player but remember that as our manager Jose stifled a city team with all the creativity in the world. twice I think it was to beat them 1-0 with exactly this type of performance.

Let’s see how the 2nd Half goes.

It’s not been the best so far but it is still pre season , it’s boiling hot over there and 1st goal always key in these types of games

We've spent 100m and we have only 1 new starting XI player.

I thought my lack of excitement over this window was due to me getting jaded about football but when you look at this XI you think, 'yeah we are still way short'

Transfers are not for getting high. There are other ways to it.

On the transfers itself, players we bought does improve squad from what we had. But it takes time to gel. Not too fussed about for now.

I guess. I just sometimes long for a player who saunters across the pitch with a swagger, a bit of guile and something unpredictable and exciting. Or a player who sees the risky pass that no one else does.

I get that Conte builds functional teams for a system and I pray we get success with it and think we can. And I’m 100% behind him.

doesn’t change the fact that, fundamentally, it’s not my favourite style of football to watch and enjoy.
I certainly agree we need a no.10 with a bit of unpredictability about them. At least the club do seem to be targeting one at least.

We looked much sharper against Rangers so I suspect the humidity is affecting the team a bit.

Not a very good performance so far but who gives a fuck? As long as we show up and win against Saints next week we could lose this 7-0 for all I care.

I think we are short in two key areas - central defence and a creative midfielder but in all honesty we are just short with our intensity on the pitch. We do look jaded which culd be due to the heat or, as someone mentioned earlier on here, has Conte just drilled them into the ground and this week and any match week will be about approach, tactics and shape

I wasn't expecting to see many changes for us during the game today, but the temp out there, I'm sure there will be plenty
Yea good point, I’m guessing around 60-70 min mark as if this is conte’s preferred XI he will want many of them to get good minutes in their legs.

70 mins is usually a good point whereby the players get match fitness but don’t get too much lactic acidosis build up from the 70-90 min mark.

Likewise some of the people in this thread, it's an exercise in fine tuning the bollocks ready for the proper games :D
It’s been a long summer. You can’t expect us just to turn up next weekend and spew filth without a bit of practice. Was a bit worried after the Rangers game - all that toxic positivity - but I think we’re starting to look a bit fitter and angrier already. Should be good to go again next week now.

We might start the season slowly and it could take a few weeks to find out rhythm.
But I think we should remind ourselves that all this noise about us challenging the top two is a bit premature.
The club is going in the right direction but it's going to take a while along with more players to attain that standard.

interesting, Lenglet getting playing time with the regulars. hopefully he thrives because even though Davinson has been, well, serviceable, we really need someone who can climb that pocket and be able to play off the pressure.
