Two things: 1) Isn't the longest, first professional contract you can sign as a 17yo only 2 years? Seem to remember people saying this about Edwards. 2) We would have been exceedingly silly to be going after him and not also trying to get his brother. And that is even if his brother shows no PL ability - which he may, considering he play youth national team level.

This seems a bit odd. If we'd really wanted him and he wanted us, we could surely have got him before he signed a new deal for a fraction of the cost?

true but I think the fraction would be about 90%

he would have still cost a bit, a lot of clubs were after him

It's a bit strange if you ask me?

Unless he's agreed to sign a new deal for them to get more cash

Fulham are in a strong position with both Ryan and his brother. Unless either kicks up a fuss, which I think is very unlikely, they can hold out for as large a sum as possible. Given the interest in him, we'd be in a real bun fight. I just can't see us getting involved.

what position does his brother play ?

This is the best season to get him even if he costs upwards of £25m.

Think about it, if he has a fantastic season at Fulham he'll be worth even more with all the big clubs calling as they'll want him to be their Dele.

Sign him, loan him back for a year to sweeten the deal. Get him before the costs go up. I would class this as our signing of the summer. He will without doubt become better than Rose. He has all the right attributes. Also, as a really long shot, if we can use Rose as part of the Martial deal - it would be even sweeter. Think we have left this too late though

I have to admit that I have never seen Sessegnon play (limited coverage of championship here in Aus) but £25mio seems a lot for a 17 yr old attacking left back playing in the championship. And Fulham have knocked that offer back apparently

However, it appears most on here rate him very highly and i will trust Poch and the club on this.

According to SSN yesterday, Fulham were close to signing a new left back. I forget who he is though.

I think Fulham would be tempted if we persist. £25m is still a shit load of money to a Championship club. They could feasibly sign Chris Wood from Leeds and a few others that would help them push up the table.

My boss is a season ticket holder at Fulham, wouldn't pay too much attention to them signing a left back as its to replace Malone who they sold (as someone said earlier). He thinks Fulham see R.S playing further forward this season.

If 100% true - It's clear to me that we've waited for the big boys to throw their cash around before bidding high though not unreasonable amounts in the current market for some key players - Sanchez and Sessegnon could both have ridiculous sell on value if things work out and have extremely high potential.

Whilst it looks like we suddenly found our long lost cheque book, this looks like investment as much as strengthening IMO.
