The way the SC-ITK section is at the moment is rubbish. I can't tell what I've read and what I haven't with pages highlighted on, off and on again after someone posts a comment. It's messy and was awesome before.
Comment below if you'd like the page changed back to as it was. :bang:

I was a disbeliever when we were debateing the changes but now I believe. It is cleare now than at any time before and also has shifted those who were thread-sitting away to ponder other areas of the site - which is all good.

not sure how its 'messy' its all still in order and not that difficult to rmeber what you have looked at and what you havent.

Less of an atmosphere though. Think its because we have given 3 places to post on things and its all too spread out.

Solutions are needed more than moaning though

He does make a good point about the threads going bold with new posts though. It can be hard to tell what's been read and what hasn't.

Yeah I have to agree, it was far better when you just looked here for the ITK and then discussed it on TR. I say change it back

How can it?

New ITK is on the top.

Anything containing posts not yet read is in bold.

The forum style is not going to change again during this window. I personally find it much easier to keep track of things with the new style. On thread per piece of ITK seems like a very simple way of doing things so I'm not sure where any confusion is coming from. It's not that hard to find out whether you've already read a piece of ITK or not, all the threads are numbered and have appropriate titles. The one thing I'll accept is that the threads seem quieter than the single ITK discussion thread but it's debatable whether this is a good or a bad thing as a considerable numer of posts in the single ITK discussion thread would be considered spam by many people. You can't please all of the people all if the time. At the end of this windows we'll assess how we think the different ways of structuring and modding the forum have gone and decide how we'll manage it in January.

I know the lads on the site do a triffic job and are always looking to improve the site. But for me, one of the highlights of the site was the banter / discussion and anticipation of scouring through information / opinions and ITK in the daily discussion thread.

I miss it personally.

I agree. This really bugs me. Going bold used to ean there was new ITK. Now all it means is someone has commented on ITK.

Just my opinion, but I really don't like the new format. The mods always seemed to be getting frustrated with the old format, as they were constantly having to delte posts etc and I understand that, but I think most posters enjoyed it.

I think most changes made at SC over the years have been for the better, even if they didn't always seem so at first. But I've given this new ITK format a bit of time to get used to it and still don't like it.

For instance, this thread will generate discussion i predict, similarly to the old style itk daily thread.

The new format, although practical, has less about it.

Because you see the thread at the top is bold, and click on it, thinking it's new and it isn't.

Bold in the ITK RO Forum, meant new, now it doesn't, it takes a while to get used to that.

The ITK thread was there for discussion on the ITK, but alot turned in to generate discussion.

So the ITK was moved into the thread with the inital ITK in it and the ITK thread was replaces with the 'Transfer Talk' thread that people can use for generate discussion. But noone seems to want to use it....

One mans banter is another mans spam. The poll in the transfer forum showed that we're never going to please everyone as everyone has their own ideas on how it should be modded.

but I think most posters enjoyed it.

A 3rd.

A 3rd wanted it more heavily modded and a 3rd wanted it less heavily modded.

Just because you happen to be in the 3rd that enjoyed it you think that everyone else must have agreed with you.

It seems to me the only people who think the new system is better are those involved in running the site.

I think it was a great idea in theory, it's certainly more clinical but I think we've lost something along the way.

maybe have:

[update 123] with the locked itk and at the bottom a link to a thread where you can discuss it?

[discuss 123] etc...

thoughts?

I'm not a fan of how it is now, I also think it's all over the place. I don't mind discussion about the ITK but why not keep the actual ITK itself free from this by using a subforum with discussion etc.

I feel like I did when they replaced the good old Chirpy!!
