Yeh, but you can’t deny the chatter on fan forums turns sour on a player when they know he wants to leave. It’s a form of coping.
Without doubt it does but I think the Hojbjerg link came because of his performance against us in the Cup. The problem I have saw and I know Saints fans who agree that for someone who has been brought up by Bayern Munich his passing is very limited which surprises me.

However he is a leader and we need as many as them as we can get.

Mixed reviews..

Just found this one comment and sounds like he will fit right in with us?

Utterly overrated, and by none more than himself.
Offers so little. Can’t pass, overruns the ball, gets caught ball watching, can’t shoot, waves arms around a lot.
Fed up with him. We need someone reliable back there, a calming presence with a bit of guile. He’ll never be that guy.

Watched U17 finals live and there were 2 standout players, Sancho and Torres. Great talent.
He's going to be a megastar, no doubt. I feel sorry for Valencia, if his contract wasn't running out they could get big money for him. Whoever pics him up will get quite the signing.

Not for me, Clive. Wrong player, wrong qualities, bad signing.

Really? With unlimited funds he would be literally perfect back-up(Atleti and Juve thinks the same). With limited funds I would rather choose better DM.

Just out of interest, and I only ask you as you seem to have a handle on all these charts and graphs (which are really interesting for comparisons, thanks btw) how does Odsonne Edouard compare - I ask as there are many on here who have brought his name up as (possible) the guy to be Kane's back up. Does he compare? Value for money in what seems to be a market all over the place value wise.

He is fantastic too.

Leipzig have apparently agreed a deal to sign Benjamin Henrichs (RB) from Monaco, so could be worth keeping an eye on Nordi Mukiele.

We have also been linked to him this year from a few different sources

IIRC, Steven Hitchen has a penchant for Ligue 1, so here's a player whose goal output might not stand out, but impresses in terms of metrics...

Mounir Chouiar, 21, LW, Dijon

"With 70 successfully completed dribbles at the time of writing, Chouiar possesses not only one of the highest tallies in the league, but he does so at an amazingly efficient success rate. Of Ligue 1 players that have attempted 100 or more dribbles, Chouiar has the best rate of success at 63%, higher than renowned tricksters like Kylian Mbappé (52%), Houssem Aouar (59%), and Neymar (61%).

As a creator, Chouiar provides 2.6 key passes per 90, a figure that trails just behind Neymar’s (2.7) and Di Maria’s (3.5), cementing the 21-year-old’s status as a premier chance creator and dribbler in Ligue 1. The winger’s manager, Stéphane Jobard, is himself quite the admirer of his player’s range of abilities. In September, just after signing Chouiar, Jobard declared, “He can destabilise the defence in one-on-ones, he’s capable of making the final pass and can even score. He has the whole arsenal of a modern footballer.”

An often-unrecognised aspect of Chouiar’s game is his defensive contribution to his side, something that is rarely seen in this breed of dribbling, playmaking attacker. Standing at 1.77m, Chouiar is not an imposing, dominating figure, and yet his tackling statistics – 2.1 completed per 90 – impresses, especially for an attack-first winger. To put that figure into context, the same players that were compared to Chouiar earlier complete just 0.4 (Mbappé), 1.1 (Aouar), and 0.8 (Neymar) tackles per 90."

Another who has a similar profile (a playmaking winger who is adept at beating opponents one-on-one), albeit a left-footer who cuts in from the right, is Calvin Stengs at AZ. He's recently been linked with Barcelona.

Ahhh, the young winger playing for Dijon - he looks mustard

Here are some affordable/desirable players in positions of need who have impressed me throughout Europe this season that I think would be great fits:
ST:
Carlos Vinicius - Benfica, Brazil, 25:
Big, strong, yet deceptively quick hold up player with the feet and ability in tight spaces as a smaller more agile player. Loves to drop deep and link the play and help his team. Deadly in the air, and turns half chances into goals. Not as clinical as you would like, but a valuable asset to a team who needs someone to play off and someone who can be consistently relied upon to get his team up the pitch and use spaces intelligently. More popular player comp: Edin Dzeko. Price in the region of 25m.

Matheus Cunha - Hertha BSC, Brazil, 21: Natural goal scorer who has improved leaps and bounds since making the switch from RB Leipzig in January. Everything about his game is so smooth and effortless, he has a natural striker’s instinct. Give him a sight of goal anywhere within 25 yards, and he won’t hesitate to pull the trigger. He’s deadly anywhere within that range. Fast, elusive player who can get in behind, and also work the angles around the edge of the box to find room for a shot. Can be selfish at times and doesn't do the hard running and pressing at times. More popular player comp: Anthony Martial. One for next summer, as he just moved in January.

My choice is:
Patson Daka - RB Salzburg, Zambia, 21:
Pace, pace, and more pace. Daka is absolutely rapid and will look to get in behind at every opportunity. When he drops deeper, he’s got a clever toolbox of tricks and first time flicks that often come off and set other players in behind. Filled the shoes left by Halaand and then some. Scored upwards of 25 goals this season. Clinical finisher with both feet, he just knows where the back of the net is. Great at closing down the opposition in Salzburg’s intense style. I’d absolutely love him at Spurs. Popular player comp: Timo Werner. Price in the region of 15m, this would be a smashing deal.

DM:
Erick Pulgar - Fiorentina, Chile, 26:
A less physical defensive midfielder, Pulgar more than makes up for it with his quality on the ball. Passing range is elite, can receive the ball and switch the play or find a teammate in space with minimal fuss and optimal efficiency. He may not be physically imposing, but he is ultra aggressive in winning the ball back. His determination in duels is incredible, he is a real fighter. Positionally, he is stable and smart, he is great at intercepting passes and immediately biting in when an opponent receives the ball. Added bonus is his amazing set piece ability. Incredibly reliable from the spot, and his free kicks are some of the best in Italy. A little slow, and is a fixture in an underperforming Viola team. Popular player comp: Dani Parejo/Joshua Kimmich hybrid. Price in region of 15-20m.

Bruno Guimarães - Lyon, Brazil, 21: A very good build, he’s not super tall, but he is strong and solid. Moves the ball without fuss, and adds a bit of flair to his game with his control in tight spaces and his ability to drive past his marker in midfield. He is also aggressive in his defensive duties, he loves to tackle, although a little too much, as he gets booked a little too often for my liking. Came to Lyon in January, and since they have looked more solid. He controlled the match against Juve in the CL, and is extremely highly rated in his homeland. Popular player comp: bigger Marco Verratti. One for next summer, as he just moved in January.

My choice is:
Ibrahim Sangare - Toulouse, Ivory Coast, 22:
Popular name on the forum. Physically dominant, he is a massive presence in the middle of the park. Good range of passing, especially long diagonals. Can bully opponents in the midfield without being overly clumsy. Wins nearly every aerial duel, and is adequately mobile. Can get drilled past a little too much, and he tends to rely on his athleticism too much and can get caught out of position, but he has been carrying an awful Toulouse team in his back this season. Popular player comp: Fabinho. Price in the region of 10m, this is a no brainer for me.

RB:
Denzel Dumfries - PSV, Netherlands, 24:
Physical specimen. Big, fast, and strong. Great in the air, and tough in the tackle. Bombs up and down the pitch with a great motor. Delivery is inconsistent, but can be deadly. Can switch off at times and in 1v1 situations can be beat, but he has improved defensively each season and has all the physical tools to be successful. Popular player comp: Kyle Walker :( Price in the region of 15m.

Giovanni Di Lorenzo - Napoli, Italy, 26: Another big and strong fullback, he’s not as quick as Dumfries, but he is much better on the ball and can whip a ball in. A late bloomer in Italy, he has proved to be an astute signing for Napoli this season. Defensively he is solid, and like Dumfries, he is an asset in the air defending and attacking set pieces. A player without too much upside, but as he is now, he is one of the best fullbacks in Italy. Popular player comp: Thomas Meunier. Price in the region of 20m.

My choice is:
Sergiño Dest - Ajax, USA, 19:
Very different to the two previous players. Dest is rapid, loves to attack, but he is small and lightweight. A converted winger, he is more than capable of taking on opponents and beating them 1v1. He loves to dribble, and his crossing is the best of this bunch of fullbacks. Although, as a converted winger, he is defensively weak to put it bluntly. He has improved as the season has gone by, but if he were in a lesser team, I believe he would be caught out more. By far the most talented player in this list, and I believe he can be a top 5 fullback in the world sooner rather than later if he develops properly. Also one close to my heart as he is sure to be a fixture in my national team for years to come. Popular player comp: Juan Cuadrado, but Dest has the potential to be soooooo much better. Price in the region of 25-30m, this is my dream fullback signing.

CB:
Axel Disasi - Reims, France, 22:
A beast. Simple as that. He is massive. So big and strong, yet so young. He dominates in the air and is a great team defender. He has been a key cog in Reims’ defence this season, a defence which has shocked Ligue 1 and helped the team to an incredible top 6 finish, having a better defensive record than PSG(!) and the rest of the league. On the ball, he leaves much to be desired, and if isolated can be beat, but he is a great young defender which France seem to have a billion of. Popular player comp: Niklas Süle. Price in the region of 15m.

Nico Elvedi - Borussia Mönchengladbach, Switzerland, 23: A truly elegant defender. He isn’t a towering, dominant defender, but he excels in other areas. His passing is unerring, he can pick out runners from the back with ease. Positionally elite, he is adept at reading the play and cutting out attacks. Smart defensively and still puts himself about in the tackle. He’s also rather quick. Lacks leadership qualities and sometimes struggles with bigger, stronger opponents, but is always improving, and improving at a very fast rate. Popular player comp: Stefan de Vrij. Price in the region of 25m.

My choice is:
Diego Carlos - Sevilla, Brazil, 27:
Combines the best attributes of Davinson and Toby into one player. He is super aggressive and rapid. He loves to defend and loves to tackle. But he is also elite positionally. His long balls are magical and pinpoint, and he is so calm on the ball. Right footed, yet he has starred as the primary LCB for the Seville outfit. He has transformed their defence, outperforming his fellow new signing from France Jules Koundé who cost more than double the amount. He is a true leader, in the games I have seen he has been the leader of the backline. He is slightly undersized at 6’, but he plays much bigger. His jumping ability is great, and he doesn’t struggle at all in the air. Gives his all for the team and is the best player in this entire list. He is also the oldest, but as a CB, 27 is an acceptable age to continue to perform at the highest level for 5 more years. VVD was 27 when he moved, and he has only improved and doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. Popular player comp: Sergio Ramos. Price in the region of 35-40m, but we need a top class CB to compete, and he’s the one I think who is the most attainable, and we’ve been linked. Please Levy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my long ass post haha

He is also the oldest, but as a CB, 27 is an acceptable age to continue to perform at the highest level for 5 more years. VVD was 27 when he moved, and he has only improved and doesn’t look like he’s slowing down anytime soon. Popular player comp: Sergio Ramos. Price in the region of 35-40m, but we need a top class CB to compete, and he’s the one I think who is the most attainable, and we’ve been linked. Please Levy.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my long ass post haha
Some great shouts and love Dest as I think he is going to be a good player.

However Denzel Dumfries? The bloke is a monster with no ability.

If we get in the Europa League then I get the point of signing a Milik

There’s potential there, and unfortunately we don’t seem to have the money to buy the finished article or if we do a very average finished article. First choice for the NT, he’s got all the tools. Like you said, technically and mentally lacking, but young enough to mold into a great player. Not my first choice though for reasons you stated.

I like the the look of Cunha. Watched quite of bit him since German Football resumed and he will be a top player.
