Too early. But I liked our intensity. Watford is big on Sunday as we’ll be expected to dominate.

Pretty much this.

Liking our workrate and aggression and intensity so far, plus we look fitter and seems we're getting some standards back that we've lost the last two or three years. On the flip side two league wins or not think the football has been incredibly basic and totally reliant on counters/transition play. One of those was against City so understandable, but was much less impressed with Wolves game.

Tonight I saw a lot to like in terms of how we set up and went about our work. Now looking to see us take this into PL games and play in this ethos and manner.

Early days though, whilst we're seeing some positives signs still have my fears that when it comes to the crunch we will be more often than not under Nuno be a team that sits in a medium block, gives up the ball, and is a counter attacking side (which each to their own but I just don't like) - but maybe I am just scarred by Mourinho still and looking too much at Nuno's previous at Wolves. Hopefully my fears are proved wrong, we shall see how it unfolds!...

Great bump.

It's a very new system but despite the growing pains it has borne fruit already and not simply results.

1. Bergwijn has been a revelation as a left wing forward. Which he always was. Not, Jose, a defensive right midfielder.

2. Lucas does a very good job as a right wing forward.

3. Dele can play in a midfield 3

4. PEH isn't just a dm.

5. Kane loves a wing forward, now he's got 2 to play with.

A lot of people won't like this but I think it suits Winks. His brand of patient, controlled passing stops the risks of turnovers happening when we're too stretched.

The big shame is that the lcm slot is perfect for Tanguy but he's already left the building.

Yes it will tell us a fair bit. Honestly, tonight should be the template for that match.

I think I’m already seeing us use the ball better, and the defensive line is clearly higher, and like I said in my bump post i like how we’re working the flanks. I just want us to control the middle better than we have done so far, as ultimately this will be the difference between actually performing at a very high level, or our matches being a lottery more often than not. Based on these early matches, given their respective strengths, I’d actually be inclined to swap Højbjerg into the middle of the cm3, where his reading of the match and leadership I think would be valuable, and poor Skipp in the RCM role where is peace and energy could really be a force. Small tweak like that could change the balance completely.
Where did he go? Was there SC beef?
He’s off on TFC with a few others.

Winks did great with the tackle and pass for the goal, but had some shocking moments. Did anyone see his attempted shot second half?

This current system reminds me a bit of the early Klopp Liverpool where they didn't have a ballplayer in midfield but had 3 forwards who could intercept and turnover the ball quickly and get forward to create those opportunities.

Eventually Liverpool realised they had to add a ball player to the team for those games where they would control most of the possession and would be played mostly in the opposition. I think that too will be our obstacle.

Even then, it’s only three matches. Better them or shock defeat, neither will tell us much. We should hopefully see a defined style by mid autumn, regardless of how popular that style is. Half the issue under Jose and the later days of Pochettino’s tenure is that the players had no clue what they were doing.
I just mean we’ll see a little more of what our shape will be when another team sits back and banks up against us.

Intrigued how we set up against Watford.

More front foot than tonight but back to 433 instead of 343?

Would Kane and Romero start again after a couple of days rest or do you not change a winning team (in terms of Prem).

Honestly can't call it, but I would love to see:

Lloris

Tanganga Romero Dier Reggy

Lo Celso Hojbjerg Alli

Stevie Kane Son

Gio in place of Skipp in terms of more ability to transition the ball forward and more ingenuity if we're likely to have more of the ball.

Was a lot of things if I recall, I cant remember exactly but I think it was some people issues with ITK, people PMing each other and things said. Was all a bit childish, think he was given an ultimatum and he walked, he's on TFC now.

I was thinking the same after the two league games. Out of possession anyway. It was acceptable against City, but I don't think it worked well against Wolves. Against City we stopped it their midfielders getting on it, but Neves had all day against us.

I thought last night we set up more like Man City. Wingers stayed wide for the most part. Full-backs backing up play with the occasional overlap, rather than been constantly high and the only source of width under Poch . Two attacking midfielders high up the pitch trying to find space behind the midfield and between full-back and centre back. Gil particularly made good runs in that space. Although I like that set up, I thought we looked better when we went 4231, but that could have been down to them tiring or opening up more.

Last night looked more like a 4132 to me and the trouble we had was that Gil and Sessegnon kept running into the same space. Winks played well in the anchor role and held his position most of the time and that somewhat allowed Doherty and Davies to provide support going forward. I don't think Hojbjerg or Skipp will hold as much and that makes be wonder if our first choice players suit that set up.
You look at the team now and it still feels imbalanced. There is no one in defensive third or middle third that can take control and dictate the tempo of the game. We still lack the composer to our orchestra

Our problem against Wolves was that we couldn't beat their press, because (1) neither Dele, PEH, or Skipp could dribble through their press and (2) or forwards could not retain possession when we tried to pass through the press. Lucas had an especially heavy touch, and Son's hold up play is not the greatest. This is why we looked bettter once Kane came on. Its also why its such a shame NDombele has gone AWOL, since his skillset is uniquely attuned to beating a press. As much as i like Dele, Skipp, and PEH, I hope we can pick up a CM whi can progress the ball off the dribble.

I'd prefer a CM with a great passing ability
