You say that but my Villa ticket sold on the exchange within half and hour. Maybe just a question of timing?

On the other hand, my Chelsea ticket was also put on the exchange and didn’t sell ( not really surprised though at £78, plus fees on top for the buyer).

There will be exceptions but the chances of re-selling at the moment must be pretty slim , there were an awful lot of tickets up for re-sale and looks like several thousand didn't sell.

Yeah I agree. I was very surprised my ticket sold to be honest.

I’m actually surprised it was over 53k. Amazing how trendy football is now and how many tourists there are knocking about atm!

Also people wanting to visit the shiny new stadium for the first time, I guess!

The game was basically a sell out , of the tickets made available to members there were a handful left, a few hundred maybe mainly in the more expensive seats. The missing 8,000 would seem to be mostly ST holders a lot were trying to resell on TE and maybe some who didn't try to resell and just didn't attend , as far as the club are concerned they have the 60,000 plus ticket money so no loss to them. Going through the attendance figures I think this is the lowest for a PL game so far since stadium opened.

I’m not denying there will be some stay away due to football situation and form but you do have to factor in Covid and petrol situation. Even Man City 1st game I think was 3 or 4 thousand under capacity largely due to Covid. I’d say at least 25% of that 8k were Covid and petrol. But I think people will wise up to a degree and if you really intend to miss say 25% of games may as well just be a member, you’ll virtually always get a ticket.

May as well be a member unless you ever want to go to an away league game or cup tie or get a chance of a cup final ticket!!!!!!!

It’s all about the form, we start to get positive results, the attendance will rise.
Get good results against Newcastle
and West Ham for a start.

If it is on any interest to anybody, ticketing points table has been updated, I make it 42151 st holders and 117536 members . A big drop in membership probably why TE is not selling well (apart from the covid & fuel problems ) all former members can no longer buy on TE as it hasn't been opened to general sale so far this season.

In 2017/18 there were 3,230 ST holders with 350+ points
This season there are 2,867

In 2018/19 there were 148,636 members
In 2019/20 there were 158,395 members

Interesting that Man United appears to be completely sold out. Not a single ticket left for member purchase but ticket exchange not activated yet. Obviously no need to go on GS now but if you cant make the game for whatever reason better to give members as long as a window as possible to ensure a full house (I'm in the market for two extra member tickets myself!)

Worth remembering also that Spurs brought in a rolling 4 years (extended to 5 years due to Covid) expiry of LPs a few years ago. Previously you had people sitting on high LP numbers cherry picking the best away games. Now you have to go consistently to keep at the top of the ST pile. It worked for a while, I had enough LPs for Madrid but didnt get tickets for a single away game the next season due to not having enough LPs.

& possibly never will have enough for a London derby. Most definitely not Bournmouth!!
With it being capped at £30 virtually everyone applies and sells them on now…

A 40,000 drop in membership so a loss of some where around the £ 1.5 million mark.
No incentive for the club to open TE to general sale, if it were then odd game fans will think what's the point of having membership when there are so many re-sale tickets available, only thing that will change that is a long undefeated run and rise into top four.

Exactly what I've been saying, the club would rather empty seats, already paid for, plus a few unsold, than risk seeing membership collapse completely

I agree , the Villa game effectively had 61,000 seats sold but 8,000 didn't attend , couldn't re-sell, had no fuel or after performance at Arsenal totally peed off, Man U game might go general sale if there are just a few tickets left after members have had a chance at TE but should be a complete sell out.

It went on sale to members and sold out. So wont go to General Sale.

Playing devils advocate. If they know every game will basically sell out with sales to members only (Villa basically did with 2 days to go). Why open up ticket exchange AND general sale. You're trying to create some sense of limited supply to encourage buyers. If ST holders dont want to go and get fed up of not being able to sell, they can give up their ST at the end of the season and let a member on the waiting list buy it. I dont particularly think the club should be opening every avenue possible to allow ST holders to sell their tickets for any game they dont want to go to, otherwise ST holders will never give them up as they know they can go to the games they want and sell their seats when ever they cant be arsed or have a holiday booked etc. These things always come in cycles, demand will return once the season settles down and people stop getting the hump with Levy, it always does.

It’s not surprise membership has fallen given drop off in last 2 seasons. Tbh 115k is still a pretty extraordinary number for a supposed tinpot club. Altogether with premium must be close on 160k paying members, love to know how that compares with other clubs ?

Yep, it's still a good number, and at its recent peak was phenomenal given that many see see us as a banter club
