Silver lining?

I'm as gutted as everyone else on here, and angry with Spurs for the way our season has collapsed, but I can take the following positive from tonight:

Mancini is holding City back, and now there's no way the board can sack him. City may have CL footy now but look at the signings they've been making already - they've been signing all the best players in Europe and Mancini still can't get them playing well.

I don't see how their team can be significantly improved (on paper), yet if we'd played to our true level this season we would still be in with a very good chance of finishing 4th.

It's gutting to see City enjoying Champions League football but we would have less chance of catching them in the league next season if they sacked Mancini and got someone who can actually get them to realise their potential.

Now if only we could realise ours (and sign a couple of strikers)...

I can't see much enjoyment on the cards for City fans in the CL. The football will be dire.

The silver lining is possibly monkey off back a little in regads to CL and now Sunday's game is of even more paramount importance. Oh yeah thats another monkey.

Roll on the end of the season.

Been saying this for a while, add to that no European commitments and if we sign some decent players we could have a crack at winning the league.

Perhaps more importantly if Mourinho is available this summer Citeh won't be an option for him.

That's a pretty interesting point! Man City have not been good this year at all and are very lucky to be where they are. Mancini could be holding them back, but they could also just need time to gel. Next year will be tough, but we really only need a couple good strikers to be in there with the rest of the top six.

Good post! There are definitely some posotive's here like you say, im just struggling to see them at the minute. As much as i hate to say it, Redknapp has to go if we want to progress.

Well done for finding something positive to say.

Let's just draw a line under this season. If we can keep our best players, and buy a couple of strikers, we have every chance of doing well next season.

I for one am pretty positive. I will add that if Modric gets sold I will go on a killing spree. Well, I say spree...really I mean driving up to Manchester and decapitating Alex Ferguson.

Hopefully the end to the ridiculous belief that the way to get the best out of vdv a Dutch international from the Ajax acedemy who has played for Real Madrid is to play him off a lanky **** hoping he gets on the end of flick ons and knock downs

It's going to be a long, stressful summer with people trying to poach our players and the search for strikers, but there's definitely a few positives to hold on to.

I just hope we can make some early strides in the transfer market and not leave everything 'til the last minute as usual.
