If you told me at the beginning of the year we'd have come 6th and won nothing I would be fuming, but we have reason to be optimistic for next season.

Whole season has been a mess, not just for us, I was firmly in the camp of just calling it off and not just to spite Liverpool. The parameters changed so suddenly and vastly that these last few games kinda don't feel like they should count for some reason for me.

Looking to next season's squad, I suspect Ndombele will go, maybe as part of a swap deal abroad, but will also pick up some of the financial hit if we sign the couple we appear to be close to landing if the rumours are true. LoCelso has been fantastic, even in this mad introduction to the league, he's shown he's got great feet and is keen to get forward, Bergwijn looks pretty handy too but time etc.

Glad we've got Tanganga on a new contract, as well as Skipp who seems both talented and keen so, yeah, a season on loan at a Championship side to give him some steel in his game, could be superb.

I dunno, find it really hard to gauge where we are right now squad wise, let alone compared to other teams - everything's so out of whack right now. Son's just the genuine article, couldn't adore that man more, Kane had his ups and downs but consistency in the squad and maybe we'll see some consistency in his goal tally again. I think losing Dembele really impacted how Kane used to play, we've not replaced him either... mainly because i think he was one of a kind, we've really, really missed him. Hopefully Dele gets himself fit in the close down and we'll see him back charming the midfield again.

I think losing Trippier did us more harm than good, we need to stop expecting our right/left backs to be superheroes and accept that Aurier & Davies aren't as awful as a lot on these boards make out. Replacing Super Jan is going to be hard but this South Korean lad is getting hype and CCV has looked pretty promising so generally I don't think we're in bad shape.

Awful losing football under Pochettino, awful injuries and results up to lockdown, awful winning football afterwards under Mourinho. Weirdest and longest season ever.
We’re Spurs so we‘re entitled to fabulous football and Champions League football is what I’m reading a lot now, which is even weirder. Look forward to next season and get behind everybody at the club. Enjoy the ride.

A good home record (3rd best in league behind Liverpool and City) which is promising for next season when the fans start to return, but our away form was mid-table, same as Arsenal, which is embarrassing.

But guaranteed the same ones moaning now will still be moaning because they've made their mind up no matter what.
I know this is directed at me amongst others. And you damn right I will continue moaning if things do not change. But to think that we will continue to moan no matter what is a cheap gibe. I for one would embrace any positive change to how we perform, bring us back to where we were a couple of seasons ago as I know we have the talent to do so. If that happens, like you I will embrace us getting back Champions League and a trophy to boot. But I do no believe we will get there playing as we have been doing to the end of 2019-20

A season of regret and largely down to what came before it.

After the CL final defeat had settled we went into the market and broke our transfer record for a well-coveted player that Poch really wanted. I remember when he signed I felt this was the beginning of 'levelling up' and Poch would have us pushing City and Liverpool once more. I felt the players and everyone in the club would want to go again.

How incredibly wrong I was.

Shortly, after we signed Ndombele, day-by-day it became increasingly clear that nothing had changed and the club were happy to take the 'everyone is calm approach' until Poch had that interview in which he said "I am just the coach"

That sounded alarms. I think most of us recognised it and were getting frustrated with the situation as it was clear we weren't making enough moves. Then in came Lo Celso and Sessegnon at the last minute and we had the Dybala fling to make us believe and get our hopes up once more.

I felt indifferent and not as positive as I was a month earlier but I still felt with the new signings we'd get up to speed and be maybe 3rd.

Based on that you have to say the season has been a major disappointment and a massive failure by the club. To spend the money we did, to neglect areas of the squad, it all points to a failure of strategy.

Jose has come in and steadied the ship to give us a respectable finish, considering where we were. And hopefully he can now take this club to places we haven't been before and win is some trophies.

Still, the regret is there. We should have been reflecting on a season in which we pushed the top 2 and maybe had success.

Well said, I concur. The only thing I would add is that despite steadying the ship, we have not been pleasing to watch anymore, There might be a correlation somewhere

Well, we'd not really been a pleasure to watch under Poch for a long time either.

I think the last game was the 6-2 vs Everton and even that wasn't done with the same conviction as when we used to hammer the likes of Watford, WBA, Stoke 4 or 5 nil.

Actually the Dortmund game was very good. But they were happening less frequently

For me its hard to judge. Pre season expectations have certainly been missed and we are miles away from where we expected to be. But if you judge it from when Jose has come in. Have to say its been an ok season. The bad results such as Sheffield United have been few and far between under Jose and i think that result will serve us well in the long run. As refocused some minds and felt a shift in some players since then. This summer (feel like as a fanbase we say that every year) is pivotal to what we want to achieve going forward. We have to be smart in the transfer window and with a few key additions we could grab a top 4 spot. Chelsea could be amazing or blow up next season. It depends if they sort out their defence and GK. United look good but dont seem to be addressing their real problem areas which is a proper CF and their defence and GK. Also Bruno might be found out a little. Lots of players have in the past had great Jan-may when first joining the league due to teams not knowing about them and also the end of season performances teams start to put in. Liverpool and city will be hard to catch. I also dont see any of the others being able to close the gap. Arsenal could end the summer in a lot worse shape than they are in now. Wolves could struggle to hold on to some of their stars. Leicester have bottomed out and could potentially lose a few.

If we bring in 2 CM/DM 1 LB 1 RB with 3 of them being starters and back up to Kane we will be in good shape. Europa will be good to blood the likes of Parrot tanganga (not that he needs blooding) Cirkin sessegnon (assuming he stays) gedson. Its the same comp that put Kane on the radar for most spurs fans. If levy backs him astutely this summer it could see us push on over the next few seasons as could see Jose being here longer than the 3 years he normally spends at clubs as his options are limited and expectations arent what they have been at other clubs.

Anyways ive gone off point Joses tottenham gets a B- the season over all gets a D

4/10 - Given what we were expecting at the beginning of the season it has to be sen as a huge disappointment. I think pretty much everyone thought Poch would push on with a fit squad and new signings but it just wasn't meant to be. Our performances in the cups were largely pitiful and we only put in a handful of really good performances all season. The only reason I didn't go lower is because of our decent run at the end and securing European football.

I'm cautiously optimistic about next season. Jose has clearly finally sorted the defence and got all of the players fully on board. We aren't looking pretty and I'm still adjusting to watching this new style of football, but I think the players are starting to understand their roles better and there are certainly some green shoots of hope. Kane and Son are looking quality, Lo Celso will only get better and with some shrewd signings I think we could be really bloody difficult to beat next season.

Mixed season. Towards the end of last season I wanted Poch out. I was tired of his post match games talking in clues and dropping hints but then acting like they were not really hints. I was tired of his big game tactics, his stubborn attitude towards changes and the team not improving. This year obviously started terribly.

But since Jose took over, I have been optimistic. The injuries hurt Jose, losing Son/Kane/Sissoko/Lloris/ Lo Celso will hurt any manager but especially one taking over mid season and most of them happening at once. I think people forget that because of COVID. Since the restart, results have not been pretty but they have been positive. Who would have thought we would be in Europa next season when COVID hit?

I think going through this difficult season will improve us going forward. We replaced the manager with a better one (IMO) and if we hit on a few transfers, even if not big named ones, our squad will be refreshed and play much better. The talent is there for the most part but the players need new energy. Jose will provide that in his way.

Next year we will compete for top 4, in the same group as United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester I think. Europa we will be in the top 5 for favorites to win it all. Give us a lucky draw or two in the league or FA cup like City and Arsenal usually get and we will make a deep run.

What a weird season.

Without Kane and Son's simultaneous injuries, we probably scrape top 4.

Without covid shutting down the league so they can recover, I'm not sure we make top 10.

Probably the least enjoyable season since the Sherwood one. In retrospect, the writing was clearly on the wall for Pochettino when he inexplicably stated on the eve of the CL final that he might go elsewhere. Clearly not the language of a settled, positive mind and a devastating message to send out to the team just before the biggest game of their careers.

Mourinho prompts mixed feelings in me. On the one hand, he’s vastly experienced, successful, intelligent and well connected. On the other, he’s working on a limited budget with a group of players who’ve looked mostly disinterested this year. Some of the football has been dull and pedestrian, but he’s evidently used the enforced break to really work on improving our porous defence, which bodes well for the future. Ndombele has been massively disappointing; the constant fitness issues and Mourinho’s frustration with him aren’t great indicators for next season and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sold this window. I’d love to see him nail a place in the starting XI but I’m not optimistic. I’m also not convinced that Alli has much more to offer us given we’re clearly moving towards a more counterattacking style of play whose success relies on direct and efficient attacking moments. I see Alli as
a beneficiary of the Pochettino’s era of possession based football where chances where frequent and mistakes typically hovered up by the hard press that frequently won back any squandered possession. I think in a Mourinho squad he is more a luxury than a dangerous forward but I hope I’m wrong

bad

But tbf we were running out a half ass squad partly cuz of injuries and partly cuz we don’t have a v good squad

I expect and think JMo will have us ready next year. Nothing crazy but challenge for top 4 and make some runs in Europa/FA and even the league cup he cares about trophies and I do too

Considering where we were mid march, a great season.

But I am convinced we will be pushing for the title next year. Seriously. No major spend is required, just need a bit of balance to the team (DM) and a dependable RB. Offensively, we're good but team needs balance. If Jose can get Ndombele firing great, if not, sell and reinvest.

I think next season is going to be a great one.

Very painful season, in an increasingly tough league.
We look a long way off challenging for a title next season as Jose previously indicated. But he is here to win us a cup, and I can't think of a manger that gives us a better chance than him.

Poch said it was going to be a painful rebuild season, and he wasn't wrong. The CL final marked the culmination of the 5 year project, and the end of an era. We tried to cling onto it for too long thereafter, trying to deny that a new one was needed.

The new Tottenham is now here, Megabucks stadium, corporate partnerships galore, and an Amazon documentary which is likely to be more akin to Keeping up with the Kardashians than We will be Kings. At times I really struggled with this reality, and the desperately pragmatic football practiced by Jose.

The sliver of light is that his groundwork was starting to pay dividends in the last few games. Clean sheets, convincing scorelines... Kane back on form and looking happy, Celso assuming the orchestrator mantle, and the team generally responding to Jose's "defensive process".

The pandemic fucked everyone up, but Sheffield and Bournemouth aside, it seemed to benefit us greatly. Europa League is acceptable all things considered, as we still get some good old Spurs nights under the lights.

Hopefully we'll see a better balance next season if Jose gets the right players in but I wouldn't expect significant change.

We're going to be a tough to beat counter attacking side.
