No excuses - we have to win this one. If Conte gets it right tactically and we do things like making sure no one gives away stupid free kicks we should be fine.

I'd love for richarlison to finally get a goal which isn't var'd.

Official twitter just showed a few shirts hung up in the changing room and one was Tanganga. Probably doesn't mean much as he'd be on the bench.

The problem for Southampton has been that their style of play leaves their defence very porous. When they have been successful in keeping other teams out, it's generally been by pressing the hell out of them and never giving them time to settle on the ball. Their personnel and their preferred formations are not conducive to packing the box with two disciplined banks of four.

It's difficult, if not impossible, to press for 95 minutes. When Spurs don't allow themselves to be knocked off stride in this way, particularly in the early stage of matches, we can usually find space for our superior strikers to work, as the game goes on, even if we have to live through one of those turgid scoreless first halves.

Plus we can counter-attack, or rather we can when Son shows traces of his former pace. If we can't score, it is unlikely to be a result of Southampton's shape or tactics. Southampton can be pretty good on the attack, although they leave spaces behind them, plus of course they have Ward-Prowse to pick up a goal from a free kick and sling in threatening set pieces generally.

I doubt it will end 0-0 and I don't think it will necessarily have much to do with who scores first, because Southampton in particular are not good at slamming the barn door when they have a 1-goal lead.

We need our goalscoring players to get the ball on target, rather than witnessing an endless procession of shots cannoning off defenders' knees, arses and heels.

Yeah I feel confident about today’s game. A full week for us and a mid-week game for them which they lost. We’re a good price at 1.82 I think we’ll pick up a touch of consistency heading down the final straight.

Team used to drop at exactly an hour before kickoff on twitter, anyone know why it's always a min or two late now? Do they prioritise another social media app?
