So a ball smashed from a couple yards deflecting from the chest to the shoulder is a clear and obvious penalty. Grabbing somebody's leg as they're through on goal and dragging them down, with zero attempt to play the ball, is a clear and obvious no-foul. Get a fucking grip. That's one of the most obvious calls I've ever seen and you'd expect a referee to get it right without any help 99 times out of 100. How on earth are fans meant to trust VAR when it can't even get that right? For handball everything's a penalty, for everything else only a punch in the face counts and even then it's probably just a yellow.

Rugby tackles allowed, you can clearly see him extending his arm across to stop Kane as he falls, shockingly bad call, VAR i thought would save us from refs but is becoming another layer to even get more frustrated with

Ah, so we’re not fans of VAR anymore then I see.

As you were then ?.
No. I’m not a fan of the decision. Think the rule is if the ref hasn’t seen it properly and there’s a clear and obvious error. mike dean had a clear unobstructed view and evidently didn’t believe it was. Mike Dean is the chode here not VAR

I'd quite like clear, obvious decisions to be correct. They've over complicated it.

The penalty appeal was considered not to be a penalty by the on-field referee. As a matter of course, the VAR checked it. As this was a subjective decision, the VAR deemed that there was not enough evidence to overturn the original call and so stuck with the on-field decision.

This is on the Kane penalty, from the horse's mouth. I have absolutely no idea how what happened isn't enough evidence but the PL/PGMOL seem absolutely terrified of VAR compromising the integrity of the match official, and were scared shitless by how it was applied in the summer tournaments (WWC, Copa) and as a result have set the bar a million miles too high. There is a middle ground between the summer tournaments and the PL and that is what has to be found for VAR to work.

Yeah I’m not a fan and said as much after we benefitted last week. I’m sure there are plenty of people complaining who also weren’t big fans before, but I can’t help think there is a lot of Spurs tinted glasses stuff going on ( not directing this specifically at you).

We should have had a penalty given against us last week.

Absolute shocking decision not to award Kane the penalty. I am still in disbelief, defender just threw himself in front of Kane had nowhere to put his standing foot to shoot. Shocking and its clear Mike Dean was not impartial.

It just proved that two, not just one referee today are not fit to work in the Premier League.

The Bournemouth-City game earlier had a bad incident as well that the VAR did nothing about. It's definitely as much about the way they have told to apply VAR as it is the refs themselves.

I do think it will get there in the end. The implementation in Europe last season was stupidly harsh on handball in particular, the PL this season is so leniant on fouls that you may as well not bother reviewing. There is a happy middle ground to be had if they can reach it.

I'm a big fan of it providing it gets things right, and so far on my viewing there should of been 3 penalties given. the one v City which Lamela fouled, and had the ref viewed it I believe he would of given it. today City were robbed of another pen, and so was we today.

even if a player is falling because he is injured, he still interfered with Kane getting a shot away, which would of also been a red card as last man and never attempted to play the ball

Edit: from my one viewing he looked last man

Officials are incapable of making the correct decisions even with all the help in the world. It just makes VAR totally redundant.

Get rid.

Too many things to go mental about and not enough time to go mental about all of them.

Todays decision was little to do with VAR and everything to do with Mike Dean being an incompetent ass****
