Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has claimed his old side looked like a 'bunch of strangers' in their 6-0 defeat at Manchester City and says they are struggling without Gareth Bale.

Redknapp's replacement Andre Villas-Boas is under mounting boardroom pressure at White Hart Lane after successive defeats in the Barclays Premier League with some of his squad furious at the Portuguese after claiming they should be 'ashamed' of their display at the Etihad.

Spurs spent £107million in the summer bringing in a collection of players after Gareth Bale was sold to Real Madrid for a world record fee of £86m in August.

But Redknapp, who was sacked by Spurs after guiding them to fourth in the League in 2012, reckons his former side are lacking Bale's influence and fears they won't be able to replace the Wales international.

'For the first time, Tottenham did look like a bunch of strangers on Sunday,' said Redknapp. 'They have got lots of attacking players. They have almost become overloaded with the same type of player.

'In the past, when they had Gareth Bale, he was such a fantastic talent that he would pull them out of trouble.

'There were lots of games where there were two minutes to go and suddenly a bit of magic from Gareth Bale and three points were in the bag. Well, they have lost that magic now.

'He was special. It has been difficult to replace him and that is a big problem for them.' Redknapp, who was speaking to talkSPORT, reckons Tottenham however, can bounce back when they host Manchester United on Saturday.

'Tottenham will pick up. They have got a great game this weekend', added the Queens Park Rangers boss. 'If I was managing Tottenham, I would be happier playing Man United than I would Stoke.

'It's a game where Tottenham can have a real go. I'd rather have that than a game playing a team that you are expected to win against and it goes wrong again.'

Ha ha, that Mail article says Redknapp was sacked after guiding Spurs to 4th in 2012.

I'm pretty sure he was sacked for throwing away third place and courting the England job.

It was only a matter of time, lets be honest, what the fuck took him so long

Not read it yet
But they are a triffic group of players
Walker is top class
I brought Defoe and Kaboul back there
Ade has the potential to be a top draw player
They said eriksen was a AM/winger and then I moved him in to the middle of park

True but he finished higher than avb will probably ever finish in the prem.

I'm not knocking Redknapp or his record, I'm knocking the biased way that his sacking was reported in this article.

Its how you spin it. Both the statements you've made are true.

I wondered how long it would take before Harry was wheeled out for his opinion. I can't really argue with what he says though but its all just pretty obvious stuff really.

Well lets face it he isn't lieing here is he, infact he covers everything pretty well.

We have good attacking options..... check
We looked like a bunch of strangers on Sunday...... check
We would rather play United than another team that will stick 10 men behind the ball....... check

Can't really grumble much.

Just seen a video clip of BAE's recent man of the match performance for QPR against Charlton, we're talking seriously sexy football. I've always liked the idea of AVB and thought that we would move up a level with him and still have (some) faith that he will transpire to be the right man for our future, but I have to say that I am beginning to reminisce about the Harry era.

i heard him on talkshite this morning and he was ok. he could really have stuck the knife in but i make him right about the team looking like strangers.

we cant link defence to midfield or midfield to attack. we dont have the correct 3 players to play behind a lone striker apart from lamela at rwf where avb never plays him and we dont even have the right striker to play ahead of the 3 either. he did chirp up about his boy defoe again but jd is as good as one of the redknapp family.
