Spurs to lose points if Pompey don't complete the season?

Couldn't they also release players from their contracts and let them go as free agents (which I belive is permissable) they could at least save some wages.

Only if both sides agree, and given the crazy wages they've given some players I could imagine the Sol Campbells left at the club won't agree.

Utaka for example, while I have no idea how mercenary he is, won't get wages like that anywhere else.

Fair do's to David James though.

Stupid, why not just give everyteam an automatic 6 points, so if you won 1 and drew one against them you will be awarded 2 more points, if you lost 1 your awarded 3 points, it's not rocket science and a fair way surely.

mathematically thats no different than what they would do, which is give everyone 0 points, except that every team would gain 6 points, so nothing would change in terms of league positions.

Makes you realise just how rubbish it is that the FA's fit and proper persons test allows this sort of nonsense to happen.

Not only does it lead to Pompey going belly up but it could mess up an entire Premiership season and cause all sorts of complications further down the league.

I suspect that Pompey will make it to the end of the season but the FA really need to sort this sort of thing out because it could really cause a big problem in the future.

Utaka's 80,000 wage has been confirmed as complete rubbish he earns closer to 20,000-25,000

It's gonna be complicated. The EPL is ok because you just take the 19th and 18th place teams and relegate them. Then send 3 up from the Championship to get 20 teams again. But then they'll have to send 1 extra team from League 1, 1 from League 2 etc.

Not really, they will do it the way they always have and the way I assume the rules dictate, one less team will be relegated from each division, you don't change promotions at all.

Has anybody actually seen a report saying the court have granted the postponement of the winding up hearing. A lot of papers are reporting that going into administration automatically means Portsmouth will avoid the winding up hearing on Monday, but this is simply wrong, it is up to the court to decide, there is nothing automatic about it. Maybe that agreement was already in place, but I've not seen it reported anywhere yet.

This has exactly the same effect as removing their results for the season. Without the added issue of determining the effect on goal difference the automatically awarded wins would generate.

Good point, surely the PL can use this money to prop them up. Would the tax man really force them out of business with no leaway? You'd think a payment of £30m would buy them some time.

HMRC have been gunning for football clubs for ages, they hate the way they get away with murder in comparison to other businesses and their taxes.

Stupid?

If every team gets 6 points, that'd be exactly the same as every team getting 0 points (which is what might have to happen) but just all shifted up by 6 points.

They should finish the season, if not then any game they cant play the teamshould get 3 points.

Think there is a rule that if a team doesnt show its a 3-0 win

This.

If they cannot finish the season, any results from games already played should stand. Any games they have scheduled but cannot play, should be an automatic 3 points to the other team.

I'd agree with this even if it came in the day after Spurs losing to Pompey at the lane in a few weeks (not that this will happen ).
